My daughter lost her hospital CNA job this past year, due to her unit being closed. She has been unable to find another hospital job, here in Indiana, and it is her desire to move to the Phoenix area. She loves being a CNA and is currently taking phlebotomy classes to help make her more employable. She is currently working in a LTC facility, but she prefers the changing and acute care environment of a hospital. She currently is saving up her money for a move. Does anyone know how the market is for CNAs in hospitals or if there is something else she can do educationally to make her more employable? She has a long term goal of nursing school, but does not want to start until she is well established in another state, since this goal takes much money, preparation, and time. She is 27 years old, single, with no children. All suggestions and information is greatly appreciated:)

I don't know anything about the CNA market here but there is an over abundance of nurses here than there are jobs. I know a lot of nurses here are looking to move elsewhere for a better market. If she has a long term goal of being a nurse perhaps she should look into other states first as she'll probably need a BSN to make herself marketable here. But Phoenix is beautiful :)

Tell her to look at the Banner Health website. I do believe there are a couple hospitals with openings for a CNA.

I work at Phoenix Baptist Hospital and we can't keep CNAs. Banners are very nice, but hard to get into. I'm a CNA and aside from the Abrazo hospitals, I couldn't find a job at a hospital SNFs are a little easier to get into though and generally pay better.
