I took my state exam two weeks ago and just got lucky enough to land a hospital interview on the 3rd and I am extremely nervous. I have never had a successful interview. The jobs I have gotten were because I knew someone and never needed an "official" interview. The scenario questions are what make me so nervous and I am not good at thinking of answers on the spot when I know I am being judged on everything, plus my shyness just makes it worse. I just know I will fail this interview and embarrass myself. I have no experience other than 5 days of clinical and I have about 3 years of retail experience. Any advice? What questions are common in CNA hospital interviews?
It is full time and is the night shift which is exactly what I was looking for. I just don't want to ruin this opportunity since it seems rare that a hospital will even consider a non experienced CNA.
Thanks.

Good luck and congrats on landing the interview! Never been interviewed for a hospital, but if no one replies search the website for hospital interview questions. Im sure something will pop up.

Congrats! Don't worry about your lack of experience. They already know about it, if it were a problem you wouldn't have the interview. I've never interviewed at a hospital, but I landed my first CNA job by emphasizing my passion for the medical field. You can always teach skills, but never passion. Emphasize a quality of yours like that. If you're not passionate, maybe you're compassionate or friendly. My advice as a new CNA is to focus on the traits you have that they can't teach.
Thanks everyone
I'm pretty close to chickening out of this interview! They actually called me on the 25th but I decided I didn't feel ready to work for a hospital(when I was sending out applications, I never expected a call back) and I never returned the call. Four days later I get an email asking if I am still interested, for some reason they seem pretty interested in me so I set up an interview. Apparently the employment Coordinator will interview me then I will be interviewed by the hiring manager. I think being interviewed by two different people is putting me over the edge of nervousness! I actually applied for this job at 3 in the morning then at 2pm I heard back from them. It kind of seems like they are desperate for someone.

Don't feel nervous...just try to be confident. Talk about your personality...reliability, consistent , and etc and explain how you would apply those throughout your work at the hospital. My first CNA position was at a hospital and I am still there.

I understand why you might be a little nervous, but i would not sell yourself short. At least go for the first interview, and ask a few questions about specific job requirments. Ask how much shadowing and learning time you have before you are on your own. Then if it seems like you'd be in over your head you can tell them I am not sure this job is for me and decide to not go for the second interview and not to take the job.
I'd just hate to see yourself defeated before even getting all the information and later on kick youself for at least not going to the interviews to see if the job was for you or not
I wish I had more time to prepare and go over questions, but I am moving tomorrow and all of my time has been put into packing, unfortunately the interview is the day after moving day at 9am.
I am definitely going even though a little voice is telling me to just skip it. I just think maybe this will be one of those easy interviews where they barely ask you anything and just tell you stuff about the job, then they hire you! (i know some are that lucky) and then I would have lost that chance(I know, I wont be that lucky lol)
My past interviews have all been before I had any work/customer service experience, so hopefully I am better at answering scenario/behavioral questions.
I have always been bad at the tell me about yourself question, I have always just said stuff that was on my resume, I know they are asking about me personally, not work/school related stuff but I never have any idea what to say.

Show that you're confident and friendly. That will show that you can interact with people well. I just got hired at a hospital with little experience. The questions were pretty basic, you're accomplishments, what makes you stand out, a time that you think you went above and beyond for a payient, stuff like that.
