Hi all. I have posted on here quite a few times and happy to say that I am finally applying this year to CRNA school. I have the CCRN certification and thought it might be an extra plus to obtain the cmc subspecialty certification. So, I jumped into this quickly and bought the review CDs from AACN.org and applied for the test with JUST 2 wks study time lol. I hope I can pull this off. I have learned a good bit with it though in the last 2 wks- Very helpful info. Crossing my fingers to pass the test and to hear from school for interview.

what does cmc stand for
It is, in my case, a subspecialty certification through aacn. I have CCRN and it is a subspecialty of that. It stands for Cardiac Medicine Certification. There are 2: CMC or CSC. CSC stands for Cardiac Surgery Certification. They just came out in 2005. So, it will be written as
CCRN-CMC. If you get both, it wll be CCRN-CMC-CSC. It is just an extra thing for me to try to do to hopefully increase my chances of admission. Hope that helps

I have both subspecialty certs and I definately believed it helped me in my interview.
Thank you for your reply. I am trying to pinpoint my weaknesses to do good on the exam this Thurs. I am good with rhythms, but I am a little weak with axis. Are there a lot of axis questions? Thanks. I hope I do well. I kinda rushed this exam. I just thought of doing it 2 wks ago and received the aacn disks a little over a week ago. I have to do it soon though....crossin' fingers! Any advice r/t categories tested?
Passed the CMC exam with about a 90%!! YEH! Glad that is over.
