CMA Starting Pay

What is your starting pay as a medical assistant?

I started off at $10.00/Hour, fresh out of MA school with only retail, some administrative experience & my externship under my belt. 8 years later, Im now making $13.29/Hour. I live in Southeast Michigan.

Specializes in Long term care.

I have 2 friends who have been looking for a job as a MA and haven't been able to find one in about 2 years.

Ok..............

Here, we have an abundance of MA positions available. The thing is you need to get certified or registered within 3-6 months after hire & have some type of experience besides your externship. I got my foot in the door to a huge institution by working as a Temporary MA right after school. That little bit of experience got me hired into a permanent full time position with awesome benefits & retirement.

NC pays really well 15-18 dollars is a usual range depending on location

$14.31 from Massachusetts. 2 years on the job

I started out at 10.50 and was at that job for 2 1/2 years and was at 12.50 when i left. I started at 12.50 at my current job and have been here for 3 yrs and make 13.44. It really depends on where you are and you may be able to negotiate.

I'm not sure which part of the country you live in, so I don't know how helpful this will be. But here goes: I live in Colorado. I started out at $14.50/hour in a specialty office, and two years later ended up at $15.79/hour. I just recently accepted a position at an urgent care office, part of a local hospital, and am starting at $15.35/hour with a $2 differential after 3 p.m.

Edit: I'm an RMA, if that helps..
