Hello Everyone,
I will be attending Baker College Clinton Twp., Michigan I would like to know are there any Nursing Students that attend or will be attending Baker in Clinton Twp. on the allnurses.com boards.
And anyone can answer this. On most of the nursing programs I've looked into why isn't there a medical terminology class for some of the programs? Is it covered in one of the classes for nurses just listed under something else? *Just curious*
I'm posting this in the Michigan forum instead of the student forum, in hopes to connect with someone considering the fact that it's a school in Michigan.
Thankx!
*Edit- To change... I've decided to attend Macomb Community College instead.*

Sorry I didn't see your post sooner. I am attending Baker College. I am doing my pre-req's at Auburn Hills, but when I start the RN program will be going to Clinton Twp.
I noticed that there was not any med. term class required, but decided to take it anyways.
Good luck at Macomb, my husbands cousin was going there, but they said you HAD to have a 4.0 to get into the RN program and there is a 2-3 year waiting list. She ended up transfering to Baker with me.
Do you know if it is still like that at Macomb??
I like Baker, the teachers are awesome and try everything to help you suceed. Have you already started classes at Macomb??
Good luck whatever you decide :)

Did you already get accepted into Baker's nursing program? I heard that was harder to get into than Macomb's. There is no waiting list at Macomb, you are either in or you're not. You don't get ranking for applying and not getting in, either. It seems quite competitive!
You have to take a entrance exam to get in.
It sounds like Macomb has changed since my husbands cousin went there. There use to be a long waiting list.
I have not applied yet. Still finishing my pre-req's. I will apply at the end of fall. You have to take a entrance exam to get in.It sounds like Macomb has changed since my husbands cousin went there. There use to be a long waiting list.
Are you considering applying to both Baker and Macomb? That would give you a shot at 165 spots instead of just 30!
I never really thought about that really.
Doesn't Macomb require you to take classes at their college? I'm sure there are probably more things they would want me to do that Baker doesn't require??
I wonder how that would all work if I did that??
As far as I know the requirements at Macomb are less than at Baker. All you need is intro to psych, an english course, nutrition, human physiological anatomy, and microbiology. I know Baker requires a pharmacology course. My friend who applied at Baker and didn't get in but applied at Macomb and was accepted was able to transfer her anatomy and microbiology credits to Macomb. I know she finished her psych and nutrition after she got into the program, I think she did both of them at Baker too (she elected to join the last group, and then actually got into the new acclerated program so she had plenty of time to get her last two prereqs done).

Baker's credits don't transfer equally to Macomb, so you really wouldn't be able to apply to both programs. Baker is on trimesters and Macomb is semesters.
You can apply to the program as along as you have the 12 credits and the HESI done. You don't even need the prereqs done until you actually have been accepted and are starting (of course unless you are up for taking a bunch of classes at the same time it helps to have most of them out of the way!). The credits do transfer, my friend didn't take the science courses twice. At Baker you have to take A&P 1 & 2, which adds up to 20 wks; longer than the 16 wk A&P at Macomb.

Macomb accepts 125 students each year. They did take on 30 additional this year into their accelerated program, but they are not planning on doing that particular program until the current accelerated class graduates. (Apparently they want to see if it is successful) Who knows, they may change that if that class is doing well.................but as it stands now, they only accept 125.........They do however take 126-200 as alternates and they could be called to enter the program if anyone who has been accepted does not take their seat.
I meant that if you applied to both programs you'd have a 1/155 shot of getting in, not that MCC has 155 slots. If you add up what Baker has available and MCC it's 155. My math is bad, which is why I put 165 instead of 155. My friend is currently in the acclerated program at Macomb. I hope the group does well so they continue it! It's a perfect class schedule for people with childcare issues!
I will have to look into the accelerated course at MCC (at least keep it in mind just in case)
I hope the accelerated course works out too
