Hello everyone,

I'm just curious to know when you all were assigned clinical sites were they closer or farther from you. Is there a policy that if you live 3-5 minutes away from a facility they would not send you there. For instance, there are two clinical sites for my second clinical, one site is 30-35 minutes from me and the other is the 3-5 minutes. Guess which one I am assigned. Is this random or intentional?

We have no say. It's in our handbook that clinicals will be within 30 miles of campus. Doesn't matter where you live.

Years ago ... we had a lottery. We literally drew numbers out of a hat. #1 got first pick (which clinical instructor and whatever site she worked). Then #2, etc. If you drew the highest number, you got last pick and had to take whatever was left after everyone else had chosen.

The next semester, we'd do it again. So, it was expected that you'd draw a good number some semesters and a bad number other semesters.

We used the lottery system for choosing dorm rooms, too.

We were given a choice of 2 clinical sites to register for, one is 15 minutes from school the other 45. Each had limited spots, so had to register quickly to get the desired site, first come first serve.
