Ok, ok, I know no one LOVES it:roll

I know the anxiety is high and you hate feeling like a bother and all that other crappy stuff but when it comes right down to it...........

Do you watch the nurses and just KNOW that this is what you were made for/want to do with your life?

I'd like to know how many of you just dread clinicals and how many of you just dread clinicals AND the work of the nurses?? Clinicals make me very anxious but when it comes right down to it I am not dying to live the rest of my life doing what I see the nurses doing. Does that mean I got into the wrong field??:chair: I can't believe that the only profession I was "made" to do is personal training or aerobics instructing, LOL

How deep is your love????:roll

I used to love clinicals....until I got an instructor that sucks all the fun out of them :o

One semester left...just one semester left...thank you, God, just one semester left.

This is my third semester of clinicals. We don't get to do prep work the night before. We come in, get our patients, and hit the ground running. We have to look up the meds by 7 am and be prepared to give them at 0800 along with telling the instructor EVERYTHING there is to know about that drug. Before this can happen, we do the patients bed, bath and RN assessment. If there is anything on the floor that might be interesting for us to do, (like foleys, or central lines) we have to do them whether it is our patient or not. We have to turn in a Care Plan from the previous week. These are 8 legal size pages long. And on top of that, I am pretty sure my clinical instructor hates me. So the answer to your question is....YES!!! I LOVE EVERY MINUTE OF IT!!!! I can't wait to have my RN in just 5 short months. WHEWWW!!! The one thing I want to remember is....be very, very, very nice to the students when I am in that position. I have been blessed with training with some of the most wonderful nurses these past semesters.

I wouldn't say I love clinicals or hate clinicals, I tend to dread it the day before especially since the night before I work until 1130p then get up at 615a, so I am usually tired. But then once I get there and get a patient assigned to me, I like it. I like the interaction with the patient, I like learning new things.

I love clinicals. I try to leave clinical with at least one positive experience under my belt each week and a plan to add one more aspect of my formative nursing skills to my care the next week. I know it sounds pollyannaish to some but it works for me and keeps me upbeat. I'm open to criticism as well as praise. Luckily, I haven't had any experiences with nurses that didn't want me. Some have offered a little more guidance than others but for the most part, I've been lucky. I've had great feedback from my patients, so far. I also end each week, before my clinical group parts company, by saying, "One more week under our belts." Just something to put a positive spin on this experience.
