Hello,
I live in New Orleans and I start nursing school at Charity in Jan. I was wondering which hospitals are the best to do clinicals at. I've heard that Touro isn't the best place because of the clinical instructor there! Registration is in about 2 weeks so I have to have my choices narrowed down!!
Any feedback will be greatly appreciated!! thanks

Hi, I'm starting Charity in Jan. too! I'm so excited, but also a bit nervous. I did hear from several nursing students in NAC 2 that EJ was the best place for basics. I live in Kenner so it's also close. I was going to choose University, but have heard some things about the teacher there from a student in basics there now. I'm just afraid that I will pick EJ and then they will give me Slidell Mem. it happended to a friend this Fall. She was so upset becasue she lives in Met. The good thing is that we are only in the Hospital a handful of times because it's basics- my friend has only been 3x since the semester-you spend most of your time in the Simulator Lab on Campus. :nuke: Good Luck!
Wow that really sucks for your friend. I'm sure that must be a hassle! Thanks for the info. I will keep it in mind!

Hey, newcomers! I'm in NAC I right now, and I went to EJ for clinicals in Basics. I do NOT recommend it. You're on a rehab floor, and you're not able to get much experience there at all. Your patients spend most of their time with PT, so all you do is watch them during therapy. University is awesome. You see a lot, and you even get to do a lot. I would definitely recommend University Hospital. Actual clinicals start mid-semester. You spend the first half in the labs practicing dressing changes, assessments, injections, etc. Hope this helps! Any other questions, just ask!
Awesome!! Thanks!!

By the time you finish nursing school, you will have had clinicals at 7 different hospitals. I don't think any facility is better than another...but the same can't be said about instructors!!! Definitely a few to watch out for...so I've heard anyway. In my experience it's all been ok. Congrats and good luck!
