Clinical difficulties!

Published

I am graduating from my LPN program in late June! I am still having a hard time trying to figure out what is going on with my patient anatomy and physiology wise! For example a patient is diagnosed with CHF what should I be looking for signs and symptoms wise and what are the interventions I should be implementing. I also have not had A & P 1 and 2. Is there a web site or anything that could help me with this!

They can have either right side or left side CHF or both. They each have different signs and symptoms.

What do you mean you haven't had A&P and your about to graduate from school. It wasn't a requirement before you entered school?

Lpns are not required to have A&P 1 and 2.we take basic A and p but it is very basic. I know there are both left and right sided heart failure that was an example. We have a LPN to RN transition program and. A and p 1 and 2 is required for that.

oh I thought that was the question that you were asking. I don't know any websites but if you have a kindle they have free A&P books that you can download or you can go to a bookstore and pick up a comprehensive A&P book.

Thanks! I should have been more specific.

You should look into your Fundamentals or Med Surg book, as CHF s/s should have been covered at some point along your LPN education..

Edit: A&P isn't going to teach you s/s of disease processes.

No - but medsurg and patho should have.

You need to review your med surg...patho of diseases very important

I heard someone say once that for the first year of anyone's nursing career, they should come home and review/research the diseases they treated at work that day. Your texts are a great reference to refer to even after graduation.
