Clinical day

one of the hardest things about clinical is how disorganized it can get...

I personally have a little note book which i write all the things i have to do and when to do them... Does anyone else have such a method of organization?

I think this will help all the Students joining the program this fall so that they may have a rough idea of how to plan their care...

Thanks :-)

our program requires us to have a little notebook (or pda) with us. i would jot down everything i had to do for the day, as well as all the info on my patient i needed for my care plan and then copy it over onto the care plan sheet at home.

Excellent suggestion!

I hijacked an SBAR sheer from ICU that has all that fun info on the front, and then a place on the back with the time with lots of room to write. I would fill in what I had to do at each time, meds to give etc and cross the hour off when I had completed everything. It worked wonders.

The hospital I work at (and the same one where I will precept at, just on a different floor from where I work) has tons of brain sheets for us to print off and they vary by specialty - general patient info sheets, tele worksheets, worksheets for psych, etc. Otherwise, I just a sheet and make notes of what I need to do throughout the day. I also bring my clipboard with me - it's a storage one so it opens up to fit things inside!

I used to bring a clip board but it got very bulky... hmm...maybe i can invest in a storage one :-)
