Hello! I just took the NCLEX-PN yesterday, and passed! Woo-Hoo! I am so excited to find a job where I can help people, get great training, and not be left alone yet :) I live in Cleveland, Ohio, and don't know where to try to get in. I think I would love the diversity of a hospital, but I haven't seen any job postings for LPN's, only RN's... Does anyone have any suggestions? BTW, I also speak Spanish & would love to utilize it. Thanks in advance for any insights

I'm in Toledo, but from the Cleveland area orginally.
Here in Toledo, hospitals aren't hiring LPNs-it's a policy at most. Even one of my classmates who has worked years as a PCT in one hospital will be let go once she passes her NCLEX. She'll be an LPN, so can't work in the role of PCT, yet have a policy of no LPNs. It's really sad.
I'd like to know if hospitals in the Cleveland area are hiring LPNs. It seems that the LPN-hospital job problem is happening at a lot of places. As you know, LPNs know a lot, and are well-prepared to work in a hospital, so it makes me mad about the policies. As for me, I'm continuing on with a regular RN program right after I graduate in December. Too bad have to do this to get a hospital job, but what else can we do?
And, congrats on passing the NCLEX!
I'm planning to hopefully work in a LTC while I work to earn my RN. At least I can try to positively affect a really vulnerable population. Also, I'll learn time management and be able to practice basic nursing skills. Not to mention learning to deal with delegating and working with other nurses effectively.

amjowens - some Cleveland hospitals also have the policy of no LPN's...and the others are phasing out from what I understand.

What a positive view on working LTC!!! You are absolutely correct - thank you!
MsKiesha - thank you for letting me know about Franklin Plaza! Do you work theree?
Yes. Its a good place for new nurses. You learn a lot, have a lot of support from DON, ADON etc.
