Hello All,

New to the site. I just finished all my nursing requirements May 2 by passing Excelsior College's CPNE!! However, I have to take 2 CLEP exams to graduate. I was 1 credit short in Life Span Human Developement and never had taken Intro Sociology so lacking 3 credits there. I am looking for some good study materials to ensure a passing grade on these 2 CLEP exams. Any help or info would be great. I do have Lisa Arrand's Life Span Human Development study guide. Should I use something more. Also, what do you reccomend for the Intro Sociology CLEP. Thanks for all your input. Need to have both exams passed by June 10th to graduate in July. Will I have enough time to study for these exams and pass before that date? I did take an Educational Psychology class and Introduction to Psychology 10 years ago. I have also been studying the study guide from Lisa Arrand for a good week. Can I do this by the June date? HELP!

These have everything you need to know, plus practice tests (2, I think). They are very reasonably priced, also, even if you buy them new. Well worth it.

I also googled some of the names and terms I found in the study guides. It wasn't necessary but I remembered better with more information... make sure you are looking at definitions as sociologist use them, not as the general public uses them.

It might be worth brushing up on multiple choice test taking skills also.

It is not a blow off test, you will need to study, but it is certainly doable by June.

I had to take Intro to Soc CLEP to be accepting to nursing school (despite the fact that I already had my Masters in Psych...where are the critical thinking skills there???). I used the college board's review book and did fine.

I also had to CLEP Intro to Microeconomics...so I signed up for an online course for it through my local community college, and went through all the relevant online lectures and notes as best I could so that I could take the CLEP before the last day to drop classes for a refund. That way when I passed, I was able to drop the class and get a refund....but if I had failed, I was already enrolled for the course credit and just had to finish the class. Luckily, I passed :)

But for Sociology, the review book is probably good enough.

You can do it! You might wanna get the Developmental Psychology Cliff's Notes for the Human Growth and Development test...I studied Cliff's notes for all of my CLEP/DSST tests and they worked amazingly!

Hi,

I used the Rea clep study guide to study for both exams. I did not use any other material I got a 71 in sociology out of a possible 80 and 59 in Human growth and development. I think you need extra study materials for the human growth.

I would recommend the Rea clep study guides. You can get used copies on amazon.

Good luck
