Hello, I'm new to all nurses I have been reading posted info on the site and every1 seems very helpful. I'm a LPN II and I have just applied to Excelsior college for RN, I haven't enrolled yet... I'm also new to the the CLEP process, can any1 tell me what prereq's are needed for the ADN program at Excelsior and how to go about CLEPING out of these courses in LAY terms. I live in Mississippi, if that makes a difference....

Hi Purplelpn2;
I am currently going for my BSN and have the opportunity to CLEP out of College Algebra. I was told to, first, be certain your particular institution accepts CLEP. Since your institution is Excelsior, that's probably a given! There are several free websites that help you study and prepare for CLEP. Instacert is one that is not free, but within it you'll find your way to many that are.
Then YOU STUDY. ALOT. Good luck!
Your enrollment counselor will be able to guide you through the process to investigate CLEP.
Thank u, SamyRN for the info I will check out that website right now.... Good luck with your BSN and Algebra CLEP...

I was wondering about the prereqs for Exelsior LPN to RN also.
Doesdad, this is what I found on the Excelsior website yesterday under the Publications tab pertaining to the LPN to RN prereq's: Written English 3 credit hrs, Infomation literacy 1, humanities 3, humanities core 3, Life Span Developmental Psychology core 3, sociology core 3, A&P 4, Micro 3, science supportive of nursing 1 and AS only Arts & Science Elective 7 credit hrs..... From what I've been reading on other post,, it sounds as if you can CLEP out of most of these courses, and it's better to CLEP them before you enroll since Excelsior has a $440 yearly fee....I'm researching it further so I make the right decision b/4 I enroll with Excelsior..... If any1 can clarify or correct anything I may have misunderstood please reply....
