Has anyone CLEPed any basic courses via Charter Oak College or any other CLEP centers in Connectcut? I'm looking to possibly CLEPing Sociology and Developmental Psyc...is it doable? I hear that these two courses are pretty straightforward. Thanks for your help.

IMO, Dev Psych is the best class to CLEP out of. Get the REA study book and an old text. Two weeks and you will be more than prepared.
Thanks for the reassurance. I've already bought the REA book, Cliff Notes, and an old textbook. I scheduled my test for Sept 12th. Wish me luck.
Just wanted to give everyone an update. I CLEPed and passed with B's on both Sociology and Developmental Psych on Sept 12th and then on Sept 23rd. All I used was the REA books (used off Amazon), Cliff notes books (used off Amazon), and old textbooks for the classes that I picked up on Amazon for under 10 bucks a piece.
For anyone considering CLEPing courses at Charter Oak State College on CCSU's campus in New Britain, CT...here's a very valuable tip: SCHEDULE YOUR TESTS ON THE WEEKENDS (Saturdays) because I took my first test on a weekday when all the staff was there and the computer testing room was right next to the office area and the employees were SO noisy and inconsiderate to us test takers. When I went on the weekend to take my exam you could hear a pin drop and the place was deserted, which created a perfect testing environment.
I really have to thank goodness for poking around on the discussion boards here on AllNurses.com where I first learned about saving myself money and precious time. I don't have to drag my behind to a full semester of those courses (not to mention complete wretched term papers) like I would have had to had I gone to my local community college. Now I'm off to a running start in my Excelsior program towards my RN.
I highly, highly recommend CLEPing general ed requirements to save yourself time and money.
