Clayton State University Spring 2018 Cohort

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello All,

I am applying for Clayton States Nursing Program for Spring 2018. I just took the Kaplan on the 6th and wanted to see who else is applying with me this semester! I made a 76 on the Kaplan and I have a 3.52 GPA. For anyone else who wants to join this forum on our journey to Nursing School this semester you're more than welcomed !!! Add your stats too !

@mnewland you have nothing to worry about either you're going to get in this time !

Normal registration has nothing to do with the nursing program. Once we find out if we get in, then we will get to register. What I did last time was just register for back up classes, and then drop them later if need be. So if you don't get in, youll at least have spots saved in backup classes.

Register for the classes you'd normally register for first. Then when you get accepted, you can make adjustments as needed. That's what I'm doing. I've already got my schedule written out for next semester just in case.

@mnewland Same. I was discouraged too, especially when my nursing advisor basically told me there's no point of me applying because my GPA is not competitive enough. But I realized the only ones that'll make that admissions decision is the nursing faculty, no one else. So don't let any advisor or anyone's grades discourage you. Just because someone has a better GPA than you, it doesn't mean they are smarter or more capable of handling the rigorous workload better than you. Everyone's circumstances are different. Anyone can go to school, study all day, work no job and make a 4.0. Some of us were not able to focus solely on school work because of life (work, children, health issue, etc.). Anyone can study long hours to make a higher test score on KNAT. Some people had summer classes or jobs that prevented them from doing so.

Keep going until you get to where you want to go. And if CSU doesn't work out, opt for other schools. Schools such as Emory look at the overall package you bring, and they accept recommendation letters. The reason I haven't applied to any other school is because I'm nearly finished with my bachelors at CSU and won't meet residency requirements to graduate from anywhere else.

I totally hear you. I have 2 kids and now and my gpa is affected by my previous years at ksu way back in 2006. I was so close to getting in before that even if I make it that far again it's still such a possibility of not getting called (again). I'm so ready for an actual career. I just want to get my chance to prove myself ya know.

@mnewland I feel your pain, my 2007 grades were my worst. I have a daughter and it's definitely a different experience going back to school as a parent. I want to get this going so I can start working in a real career as well. I hope you get accepted this time.

It may be too soon, but has anybody heard anything from the school of nursing yet?

Science: 3.12

Overall: 2.8

Knat: 72

Everybody's stats are amazing. Good luck to everyone applying for Spring 2018!

Has anyone heard back from Clayton State school of Nursing ?

I have a friend who received her acceptance letter last year on October 5th and her interview was around the end of November.

@SR.1229 I haven't heard from anyone and hopefully won't hear back from them until they are ready to call for interviews. But aren't the acceptance letters supposed to come out after interviews?

Hey! That's a good question, however , I believe my friend stated that she received a phone call for the interview then an email was sent after she completed the interview confirming everything.

Nope, nothing yet. Hopefully thats good.

And yes, denial letters go out first, then they call for interviews. I think some people go emails, but I got a phone call. And it was within a day that I got it scheduled. Then it was up to 2 weeks that they sent out acceptance letters, or waitlist letters :/

I applied for Spring as well. My overall GPA is a 3.44 and I made an 89 on the Kaplan. I am in pathophysiology right now as well as 2 nursing electives. I'm hoping I make it!
