Just thought I would get a forum started as we await the decision. Everyone feel free to post your overall GPA, math and Science GPA, and TEAS scores. Also why you want to be a nurse and what specialty you would like to work in?
Overall GPA 3.38
M&S GPA 3.4
TEAS 80.7
I originally wanted to be an OB/GYN, but then I got pregnant and decided I would just become an account (math is my favorite subject). After my stay in the hospital (labor/delivery & postpartum) I decided I can still be in the hospital setting if I become a nurse. I want to be an OB/GYN nurse.:heartbeat I eventually want to become a certified nurse midwife.

Yes! I've looked at a few but because of my age, any insurance would be a little higher for me. Also, the student insurance wouldnt be cheaper but I can't come out of pocket a whole $452. I found an insurance for $75 a month which equal $375 for the whole semester which is actually cheaper than the student insurance. I just need to be sure that ill be applying for the right one. I'll call them now...
Did you ask them what are you suppose to do because usually that vaccine comes available around august
Maybe a walgreens have some. I have seen signs at eagles landing family practice that they have the flu vaccine. But I would call the school and find out first. They might want you to get it in October of this year
About the flu shot. I declined it at work this past year and I wanted to know if the nursing program was going to actually want it given just before July 1st (takes 2 weeks to work anyways) and then again in September. Flu season is well over so they said that I just needed to get it in the fall. I am lucky that my job will give it to me for free... same with all the other things they wanted proof of. It really helps if your work has an employee health nurse that will work with you. I remember having to get titers and all that before my surgical tech program and it was a mess.
Also, for those who still need CPR... my Southern Regional Medical Center gives CPR training. Unsure of the cost, but I know they have been advertising it for the public. :)
I know at my work we start with the flu vaccine in august and usually stop at the end of November because it takes awhile for the vaccine will work and get in your system before the flu season begins. So I don't believe they will make you get the flu vaccine since the paper says October
Surgtech did they tell you just to wait until the end of the year to get yours ?
My work was willing to still give me one but they hesitated. Flu season is over by the end of March. (I declined last year and wore a mask a couple more hours a day :) I figure that I am not around the flu in the O.R. and what do you know! I didn't get it! :) Never have actually.
Yes, they said to wait till next flu season. Wait till the new batch is made so that you will actually be protected from the correct flu. Don't pump yourself with more preservatives than you need to.
Takes 2 weeks to start working (according to employee health) so Sept is a great time to get it too!
Is so looking forward to finishing these last two classes in the summer, can't wait until Aug 11, 2011. But anyway GPC sent me a rejection letter about two months ago, and today in the mail, I got an acceptance letter along with the whole orientaion packet!:smackingf:thankya::oornt:, lol I was like WTH! They need to get it together over there!

I don't know an2on, i was thinking the same thing, but I just found out that because I am retired from the Army, i have had Tricare Standard snice 2008, i didn't even know it! Its only $150 a year so just look at both options and compare them to see which one will benefit you more!
