Anyone out there get an acceptance letter from Clayton State for Fall 2009 yet? I heard they had mailed out some letters this week, so just curious. If so, what was your GPA and NET score?

Interactive Comm. is one of those classes that does take time away from the harder nursing courses. I'm finishing IC tomorrow thank God. It's not a hard class, but time consuming. I'm taking 2 electives this summer so that I don't have to take them during the fall or spring--I would recommend the same for anyone. You will find out that the nursing classes give you so much reading, you will not have a life outside of school. Also, most of the teachers will help you anytime you ask--just ask, if you're struggling go to them for help. Don't wait until you've failed to get help. Nursing school will be like nothing you've ever experienced as far as work load--it's grueling--but rewarding at the same time. You will learn so much in a short period of time.. As far as Patho goes, it is one of the most important classes you'll ever take, learn it! You'll see it again and again. Lastly, find a study group to get in. I haven't done that yet, but next semester I am definetely getting in a group. Most of us were to naive to think that we needed one, boy were we wrong!

Congratulations to all of our new nursing students. I am a senior nursing student, finishing my 3rd semester. One more to go.....As the previous poster mentioned, the program is very challenging, but doable. If there are any questions please feel free to ask.

I have almost month off between finals here at UGA, and summer classes at Clayton State. Is there anything else besides the dosage calculations that I can study?

I have a son who will be 2 in August. Do you think it's reasonable to think I could get almost all my studying done during the day while he is in daycare? If I study between classes and such? Do you have any off days each week? How many days are spent in clinicals? I was looking at what I am registered for so far, and the classes seem to be just three days a week. I know my husband is free in the evenings too, but I want to make sure I have time for them. This is the first time my son will ever be in daycare. I did all my pre-reqs by getting sitters while I was in class (I took about a few of them online/distance learning also) and mostly studying while he was napping/asleep. It was difficult at times, but I don't want him to be in daycare all day and then have to sit with my nose in a book every evening. I'm just curious if that's realistic or wishful thinking?

You may also want to brush up on you A&P, if you are taking Patho in the summer.

It all depends on the semester. The first semester you will be taking Hlth Promotions (which is a mini-mester class(6 wks)), Hlth Assessment, and HIT 1 (which is also a mini-mester class). Clinicals are usually scheduled on Tuesdays and Thursdays, so you will be in class M,W, and F, and in clinicals the other two days. (I think it is still done that way, It's been almost 2 years since I have taken those classes). So to answer your question, anything is possible. I also had a two year old during my first semester and had to find ways to study while caring for my son. Sometimes you will feel overwhelmed, but remember it's only two years.

I just finished up my first semester at Clayton. I had to study in the evenings or early in the morning to stay on top of things as well as reading most of the day on Saturday or Sunday. There is not that much time between your classes because they last so long. You have class or clinical 5 days a week even though on your schedule it only says you have class on Monday, Thursday, and Friday. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are lab/clinical days. The good thing is that you will be finished with your day by about 2 or 3 so that does give you some time to study in the afternoon. Hope this helps!

i'm going into my 3rd semester of nursing school at CSU. We will all be just FINE. As stated before it is challenging but it can be done. One helpful thing to do when studying is understand the difference between things that are good to know and things that you need to know for the test. This will save you tremendous amounts of time. In all honesty i studied less 2nd semester and received higher grades solely because i could guess what things we might get tested over. invest in Review & rationale and Saunder's comprehensive review. For HIT II we had about 5-7questions out of 50 to come from these books. Goodluck guys see you in the field. O and as a side note CSU accepts students both semester and i heard through the great vine it's easier to get accepted into Spring semester, but you didn't hear that from me.

Thanks so much for all the help so far. I've already started w/ my dosage book. I just found out that I got into Interactive Comm for this summer, so I don't need it in the fall, yay! I'm also taking Patho this summer. Do you think it would be too much to add on another elective to get it out of the way, or just wait and take two online electives next summer? Do online electives take less time than seated classes? Also, which electives do you recommend?

Interactive communications is an easy A. Patho on the other hand will require much more studying. I took it in the summer as well and it was alot of stuff covered in a short period of time. Throughout the program they expect us to know the patho behind certain disorders and don't always cover them again(But sometimes it will be on the test). I personally would leave it at those two. For your other electives i might do AIDS epidemic (fun and easy A) and maybe online alt therapy. Online courses will probably take less time then seated classes and you're in the comfort of your home.

P.s. you probably have class mon, thurs, fri but clinicals will be tuesday/wednesday for your first semester

you can do it. my friend is in her last semester has 4 or 5 kids and is Student nurse association board member.

HEY GUYS!! i AM A STUDENT AT CLAYTON STATE ALSO AND I NEED YOU ALL FEEDBACK ON THE GPA, THE NURSING TEST SCORE THAT YOU ALL HAD TO GET INTO THE PROGRAM I AM APPLYING FOR THE SPRING AND I AM VERY WORRIED THAT I MIGHT NOT GET ACCEPTED I HAVE HEARD FROM SO MANY PEOPLE WHO HAVE A HIGHER GPA THAN ME WHO STILL DIDN'T GET IN..ANY ADVICE Y'ALL HAVE FOR ME??? Hey you guys, is it true that if i want to take patho it must be done at clayton state, and done before i even apply or enter the progam.

Hey!!Yes it is true that you have to take patho before you can apply to the program..but i do not know about taking it at another school..I know that at some schools it is combined with pharmacology and you take it when you are in the program, but at Clayton you must take it before you can get accepted, it is one of the prerequisites!

That can't be true. I interviewed and got my acceptance letter all before I took Patho. I took Patho the summer 2009 before starting in the Fall 2009. They said if you get accepted, they will give you a spot in patho, but before I knew that I was worried and I looked into taking Patho at another school, which they also said was ok! Of course, I'm sure if I had done poorly in patho, I wouldn't have been able to start the nursing program the following semester.
