My class shares alot of files and study materials. We currently use Facebook for communication and Google Docs for file sharing. We are outgrowing Google Docs with a group email and password and need a more organized location for file and I would like the ability to save links to websites and youtube videos as well.
This needs to be a locked and hidden site only accessed by classmates with probably a select number of administrators. Could I use a blog to do this or create a website? I am somewhat tech savvy but have no website design or blogging experience. This also needs to be low cost.

How about dropbox.com or Wiggio.com? I'm not sure what the memory/storage space is for those websites, but those are options you can check out. I use both for my classes to share files.
Dropbox installs a program on your computer where you can add files from your desktop directly into the Dropbox folder. You can create a special Dropbox folder for your Nursing class and it'll automatically sync up your dropbox files/documents with the files of the people added to your specific dropbox.
Wiggio is similar, but you have to log into a website to be able to access your shared files.
The thing with both of these is that everyone will have access. Not sure if you could add administrators. I don't know if this is what you're looking for, but hope it helps!

Why not use Google Sites? It's very easy to use and set up, especially if you're already utilizing google docs.
