Class of 2006

Published

Hey yall!

Just wondering if there are any of us out there still working on pre-reqs - hopeful nursing graduates of 2006?

Roll call! :)

I'm the 26yo mama of two boys (5yrs and 18mos). I work FT right now and am taking my pre-reqs at night. Hoping to get into a BSN program and start my nursing core/clinicals in fall 2004!

I am class of 2006...my Nursing program is 6 semesters long, and I have finished the two years of pre-reqs required. I start on Aug 25...

I am 27 yo mother of 3 (girls ages (almost) 9 and 6, boy age 3). Not currently working (thank God!...maybe as an apprentice or intern next spring?? [fingers crossed])

Im a 2006 hopeful. I'm married 2 kids (4 months and 19 months)

I have an associates already and if I get in the ADN program I'll have 2 AS degrees before im done ;)

Immediately after the ADN ill try to go to NIU and get the BSN.

I'm aiming for Fall 2005. Still finishing prereqs. A&PI this fall and still debating on Micro. 30yo wife and mother of two, 13/son & 12/dtr. Working full time and going to school at night. Good luck to all!

Wow! 6 semesters of nursing courses? So your's is actually a 5 year program?

I have tons of respect for anyone who has to work full-time, take care of a household and goes to school too! (been there, doing that! LOL) When do you plan on trying to start nursing classes/clinicals?

Wow Agent, I thought your "big kid" was older than that! I know it must be busy around yall's house with a toddler and a new baby! Eek!

Would it not be just as quick for you to go straight for the BSN since you already have an AS?

I'm class of 2006. I'm single, no kids, 27 and finishing the pre reqs this fall and apply in spring for fall 2004. I'm finishing the ADN program in Vegas then moving to complete my BSN and MSN!

I'm guessing I'll end up graduating sometime in 2005 or 2006, depending on when I get into the program. Taking the pre-admission exam on Sept. 5th. Already have 2 quarters finished (and maintaining that 4.0 gpa so far! WOOHOO!). Taking A&P II and NA Training this fall, then I'll have communications, A&PIII, developmental psych, microbiology, general pharm...and then all I'll have left to take are the actual nursing courses. Hopefully I'll be able to start those next fall. If not...if the waiting list is longer than anticipated, I'll take a few more chem classes & a couple classes that will eventually transfer when I take the RN to BSN completer program somewhere after I get my ADN.

I'm 33 y/o, married. One 13-1/2 y/o daughter. Working full time. Already have a Bachelor Degree (in psych). When it's all said & done, I should have an ADN, BA, BSN and and MSN! So many letters... ;)

What courses are you taking this fall?

I have a friend who'd kill to be in your shoes - he wants to live in Vegas worse than anything.

Good luck! Wow - A&P III, now that's a course I've never heard of someone taking! :)

I had my A&P and Micro classes with a gal who had her BA in psych and worked in a mental treatment facility.. she was going for her ADN and hoped to stay on as a psych nurse. What area of specialty to you plan on pursuing your MSN in, any idea?

Our school is on the quarter system, so instead of having A&P I and A&P II, they split it into 3 courses. We cover the same stuff, but have it over 3 quarters instead of 2 semesters.

I'm *hoping* to get my MSN in anesthesia & become a CRNA. I don't really have much interest in psych nursing, since my psych degree wasn't concentrated in abnormal psych or anything like that. I studied mostly physiological psych and engineering psych (cognition, etc). So, really, neurology interests me a bit, so working in an NeuroICU or something like that would be pretty cool. Since ICU or CCU dept experience is mandatory for CRNA school, I'd like to try & work on the Neuro floor once I'm an RN.

Ah - I don't know why I didn't think about that (since you did mention it). None of the schools around here use a quarter system, so I'm not very familiar with that sort of thing.

WOW! Sounds fascinating! Good luck! :)

manna, I'm taking A&P II, Comm, Nutrition, Algebra.

as far as Vegas, I can't wait to get out of here. I've lived here for 2 1/2 years and it's been VERY good to me. But you actually run out of things to do, sorta weird, but there's really not a whole lot to do that dosn't involve the strip and a lot of money. I have a love hate relationship with this town. One of the biggest problems is the lack of any kind of culture, it's such a new town though. I wouldn't talk anyone of out moving here, but I do think the towns good for someone who's stopping through. Oh, and if your friend is single, it's a well know fact that this is the hardest town to find someone!

Yes but there is no straight BSN program exclusively at night here. There are plenty of RN to BSN programs though.

So I get the ADN and RN lic and then get into a RN to BSN program. It will taker longer but whatever.

So I'll have 2 A.S. and 1 Bach.
