Class presentation

We did lots of "game show" presentations. You can apply Jeopardy, Family Feud and Who wants to be a millionaire to just about anything. That way you get the class to participate too.

We were desperate once and my group actually did a "bedtime story" about magnesium. We made a giant story book and we handed out Hershey bars with new labels on them to go with the theme...

Have you had a look at the resources in your library, they often have resource kits and videos etc. Just a thought. Good Luck :)

pneumonia is not likely fun., but maybe you can interview someone. or have a nurse speak for 5-10 minutes of the presentation. Also., I found out the other day. that there is actually a powerpoint template for jeopardy!!!! maybe try that. or go to your local hospital and ask for copies of old xrays., names removed of course., ( clear lungs vs. pneumonia lungs) and just hold them up to the light. I personally like powerpoint. and maybe you can find some photos of pneumonia lungs online that you can incorporate into the presentation.

I'm a nursing student and I need help w/ a class presentation on Pneumonia. The presentation needs to be around 45 minutes long, w/ visuals, and to top it off the instructors want us to make it a "fun" learning experience. How do you make learning about Pneumonia fun?? I've searched the web for 4hours today and came up w/ nothing. Does anyone have any ideas? I'd really appreciate your help!!!!!

OK. I had to give a 45 min presentation to a group of nursing home workers (CNAs, housekeeping, RNs). The presentation was about taking vital signs correctly and heart attack symptoms. It was me and 3 other students. We did include a game and called it "Facility Feud" a take off of family feud, but we tweaked it a little. It took up at least 20 minutes of time and was a major hit. I downloaded the theme song onto a CD. We played the theme song and in unison all of us presenters said "LEt's play facility feud". The audience got excited!

We divided the room up into 2 teams. A team leader was chosen from each team. Just like family feud, the team leaders had to come to the front of the classroom while I read the question (for yours it would be pneumonia questions). The leader would ring a bell when they wanted to answer question. IF neither leader knew the answer, they could choose someone who had their hand up from their team to answer. IF the answer was right they get a point. We told the group that after 25 questions whoever had the highest score would get candy. We had tons of great candy...snicker, mms, twix, etc. Then at the end of the game we played the theme song again and announced that since everyone was winners by attending our inservice and playing along everyone gets candy....everyone was very happy, no hostility about one side getting the yummy candy. Everyone left happy and we got an A on our presentation.

Other "time-wasters": Talk slower, explain pneumonia and then get some audience participation. Like, "Does anyone know how pneumonia is spread" Then u will have people chiming in and learning in the process. Good luck!! I know how nerve wracking these things can be.

I'd like to be an instructor some day. Every time I read a thread on group presentations and "fun", I keep repeating to myself, no 7th grade group projects, no 7th grade group projects, no 7th grade group projects........

I really do wish you luck with your "fun" presentation on pneumonia, I just for the life of me can't understand why at the college level, schools still insist on this kind of garbage. Nothing is fun when you will be graded on it. Sheeesh! :rotfl:
