Class Average in Nursing School

Okay, our class averages are terrible. The first average on test one was a 73 and on the second test a 72. We have to make a 74 on tests alone to pass nursing. Quizzes do not help bring up test grades unless you are already passing. I have in the eighties on all the tests, but I feel like I am barely hanging on. How are the class averages in your classes? The sad thing is so many people are frustrated, because we do have a smart group of people, but I don't know what is going on with everybody. I guess nursing is a whole new language and testing style that people are not getting.

Well, I can tell you my school is much like the others.

-75 to pass

-No extra credit with research papers, clinical sheets, any papers for that matter.

-Average out of 54 students.....85

-Best grade average ...............91

-Worst grade average..............71

-Graduating in May and have lost a total of 14 people, over the past 2 years;and, may lose 2 more.

The reason "they" give us......some just don't know how to do "critical thinking".

My reason.........."nursing" is just damn hard!

We have to have a 75% on tests to pass. We are in our last semester (ASN program) and we have NEVER had anyone get an A on a test. Our class average on the last test was 80% and the one before that was 84%. I only missed four on the last test, but that's not enough for an A. Grrrr...I was so close!!

Specializes in med surg, tele, ortho, preop, recovery.

Our school, you must make an 80% or more to pass exams and courses.

yeah nursing school is like that... we have to have a 78 to pass. our class average was an 84 just remember you are passing! Be proud and try to make the next one better do not get discouraged at all!

I don't know what our class average is.........but we have to maintain a 77% to pass. NO rounding up allowed. Also our program started out with a little over 70 students, now we're around 40.
