just like everyone else, i am curious on the competition for this year's applicant pool!
so if you are an applicant and so inclined to share please list:
prerequisite application gpa & points as per the clackamas community college point system.
since i started this thread it's logical for me to begin with my gpa & points:
3.91 gpa
54.84 pts
good luck everyone!
Hey all,Just wondering, everyone speaks of these "points" that are given out.
Is there a link where I can find out what these are, and how to figure out how many I have...or lack?
Up to now, I didnt know about these point things.
I'm guessing you haven't applied to any schools yet....
If you download an application packet for an OCNE participating school, you can see how to calculate your points. The point system is how the colleges determine your position in the applicant pool. Higher points generally means better chances of getting an offer.
For the OCNE schools the first cut off is for interviews. These points are based on your GPA, completed prerequisite courses, previous degree, CNA or EMT status, and employment. If you earn enough points from this round, you will be invited for an interview. The second round is based on a short essay and points you score from the group interview. They ask you a general questions and the score how you respond to them individually.
Your total points are calculated and the 50 or so applicants with the highest scores are invited to the nursing program. The OCNE participating schools have the most uniform requirements, though each school is allowed to determine discretionary points as they see fit. All schools use a point system, it is a structured way to rank applicants - the OCNE schools just happen to be open about how you calculate your points.
I think Mt. Hood still has their application packet available for download.
The OCNE Website for more information about participating schools.

Ah, Thanks L.NursingGuy. This is very helpful. I'll start to figure out around how much I have. I plan on applying to some programs in the Fall...or summer, whenever theyre opening.
Btw, congrats

Be sure to check the website of each school you'd like to apply to, as even all the OCNE school's do it differently. For example, Lane Community College used a proctored essay instead of an interview and doesn't give any points for health care work experience, but does give points for taking medical terminology and taking some kind of diversity class.
Best of luck )

No, I didn't apply anywhere else. I think I did pretty good at the interview. I surprisingly felt pretty comfortable, which was a big shock to me because I was a nervous wreck up until that point. I'm hoping that since CCC seems to take longer to except students that people will have offers else where and give me a chance. If I don't get in this year at least I know that I did the best I could. I'll increase my points, and apply at several schools next year. I'm happy that I even got an interview.
