I was wondering what the requirements for applying for a civillian rn job on a navy base are? Are they the same as active duty? Specifically: 1. Do you need a bsn?2. Are you required to do a physical and medical evaluation? Any input appreciated! I'm in an ADN program and have a BA in another subject and I am very interested in working at Balboa Naval hospital after passing NCLEX. Thanks!!

here is for a clinical nurse with the navy from usajobs.gov.
basic qualification requirements:a. education: degree or diploma from a professional nursing program approved by the legally designated state accrediting agency at the time the program was completed by the applicant.b. registration: applicants must have active, current registration as a professional nurse in a state, district of columbia, the commonwealth of puerto rico, or a territory of the united states. (note: you must submit a copy of your current registration.) in addition to the basic requirements, applicants must have one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the gs-09[color=#454442] grade level in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. specialized experience is defined as professional nursing experience performing duties such as: . providing health care to patients in hospitals, clinics, occupational health units, homes, schools and communities. assessing patient needs and providing care. participating in the development of nursing plans for assigned patients. closely observing critically ill patients and initiating emergency measures. operating medical equipment such as cardiac monitors, defibrillators, respirators, or hypothermic units. administering oxygen, iv fluids, blood transfusions, or medications or, successful completion of 2 ½ full years of progressively higher level graduate education in nursing with a concentration in a field of nursing or closely related non-nursing field directly applicable to the requirements of the position to be filled. or, a combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience
Thanks for your reply. However it doesn't specify BSN or if ADN is required. Anyone have first hand knowledge?
Since a diploma is considered less of a degree then a ADN. So that basicly says as long as you are a RN with 1 year of experience you are elgible to apply.
