City Tech Spring 2020

Published

Hi, is anyone else applying for next semester?

@ktherine_Of Course, I'm glad I could help! Yes, he is the guy you hand your application to.

yes, I am handing in my application this monday although the dateline is dec 6 for fall 2020.

Do you guys know of any students applying for program with teas exam which is lower than passing passing score but in proficient rank? and who got into the program without passing teas?

Because, when I contacted the chair person of nursing in city tech, he emailed back saying, although you dont pass teas score with 65.3, however you can apply for the program. I jus hope that applicants pool are not that competitive this semester.

Thanks.

@tsench hey there I have heard that but I'm not sure how that works. Tbh, it wouldn't be fair or right to grant those entry that didn't pass vs. ones that did; it would just defeat the purpose of having an entrance exam. The only way I see that working is if the number of applicants below the passing score is higher than the number of applicants who applied with a passing score. I haven't meet anyone who's applied and been accepted without the passing grade, but best of luck to you !

hey there @tseten25I have heard that but I'm not sure how that works. Tbh, it wouldn't be fair or right to grant those entry that didn't pass vs. ones that did; it would just defeat the purpose of having an entrance exam with a standard passing score. The only way I see that working is if the number of applicants below the passing score is higher than the number of applicants who applied with a passing score. I haven't meet anyone who's applied without the passing score and it also depends on your GPA, from what I was told, once you have the passing score it's just then based off your gpa. What is your GPA and are you applying for spring or fall 2020? Best of luck to you!

@B20 thanks for the respond dear. Yes, i am applying for spring 2020 and i am currently taking calculas in city tech and i got 62.7 in teas thats why and looks like i have to wait till next semester to apply for teas. Do you know when fall 2020 nursing program starts? Btw i have B in Eng 101, A Eng 102, A Psy 101, A- A&P, abd C+ in precal.

Sure my love @tseten25. I believe that the fall 2020 starts at the end of August but I believe you can apply for that semester a few weeks after the spring semester. You have a great gpa but I would advise at least getting the passing score. I got a 72 on my first try, my best advise is to really concentrate on the math and reading portion of the exam, getting majority of those questions right would at least get you a solid 70. I received around a 76 on the reading and a 80 on the math. If there is anything else that could help out with, please let me know, I know how bad the struggle is! I wish you the best

@B20 good luck to you also for the acceptance and right the reading and math i didn't do that good as science and english. Thanks for the information dear. Do you know of any private college for nursing that doesn't require entrance exam? Beside LIU in brooklyn.

@tseten25 of course hun, I know that majority of schools require some sort of Entrance exam. I keep in touch with one of my high school teachers who went back to school for nursing and she went to LIU's programa she mentioned that their program is a bit more easier to get into due to the availability of more seats but also mentioned that it is very costly. I'm not sure if you've heard of Nassau community college bur s its out on LI and they have more or less the same pre reqs as CUNY. They Also take the teas and their overall passing score is a 58.7%.

@B20 yes dear, I actually applied to Liu last year summer but didn't get in due to my overall performance GPA. Because, my overall cumulative gpa wasn't 3.0 and they said certain courses had to be B and above for like chemistry, micro and etc. I had more then 100 credits when i applied at LIU since i got my associates in Liberal Arts. I was so frustrated. BTW i did heard of Nassau community college, but i think its bit far let me check it out thanks dear.

@tseten25I can't imagine how Frustrating that must've felt, I'm sorry that happened. If you live close by or have reliable transportation to NCC, it might be a good option for you. Please also be aware that both NCC and City tech only take Teas scores that are up to a year old, otherwise you will have to retake it.

@B20 yes dear, the teas is up to date and yea its about hour and half from my house to Nassau college. If nothing works out, I might as well apply there and see what happens. Also, Laguardia college teas passing is 58%. I got rejected as well from lagcc when i applied because i didnt have strong grade on chemistry ? and the applicants were too competitive.

Thanks for your suggestion and time appreciate it. ?❤️

Of course @tseten25 I am really glad I could help. I think you have a pretty good chance of getting into CT program but you may have to wait a semester to apply just to get at least the 65%. I will call the nursing dept tomorrow to see if I can get more information on applying with a non passing Teas score for you Please do not hesitate to contact me on here if you have any more questions or just need to vent, I know how hard it is. I will get back to you tomorrow once I have more info.
