City tech nursing 2017?

Published

Hi, I was wondering how my chances are getting into the nursing program for the spring 2017 semester. I have a 3.5 pre req gpa and A in a&p and a 90 on the teas. I know they mostly

look at gpa which is why I'm so nervous... I heard 3.5 is the cutoff. I got a B in eng comp but I got a 95 on the English portion on the teas so I was hoping that would better my chances. I'm really nervous!!! If anyone is in the program please give me your insight!!!

I called castle bridge and they said the school can over ride it. So I called the school and it sounds like no one knows anything just yet. So I'd wait until classes start before spending 290 dollars on the American heart society. Remember at orientation they said we could go anywhere so they may override it.

Thanks for the override reminder.

I still think it is a safe bet to get certification from an AHA-approved site. The BLS for Healthcare Provider certification should not cost you more than $120.00; it should be around the $80.00 price range. The $290.00 price sounds like you're looking at advanced certifications, which we do not need at the moment.

I've seen employment or re-certification requirements at the big hospitals in NYC and all require that the certification be from a AHA-approved site. This is something to keep in mind in the future.

I got mine done last night from an American Heart Association (AHA) approved training site and I paid $80.

Castle Branch approved my AHA BLS CPR certification. When I spoke to a castle branch customer service representative the guy told me that it has to be AHA as well. He also did mention having to upload lab results from my physical exam. Thanks for the tips.

Ohh I'll see you in Wednesday class then :) So lucky, I wanted to take Patricia Hedderson on Monday instead. I had the class in the cart but by the time I registered it was full Dx

Has anyone from here has actually had chicken pox and therefore never had the vaccine? What do you do in that case?

Hi, are we supposed to have the BLS certificate at the 1 day of class or clinicals at hospital.I am a little confused if it's class or clinicals.

I think it's first day of clinicals, but I might be wrong. I just got mine today.

What about background check? My Castle Branch package from the department didn't have it.

Thanks for the response.I know background and drug test have to be done before 1st day of clinicals which will be 5weeks from now.

Did everyone purchase the Ebook package at the bookstore? I purchased the book on the sherpath site because they were sold out at the bookstore. The only thing is that it doesn't include wongs essentials for pediatric nursing. I found a paperback of it on Amazon and ordered it. Not sure if we need the ebook or not.

Hi MashaW,

At orientation they gave two papers out for CastleBranch. They're two different codes the first one gives you access to drug test and documents and the second one gives you access to the backgroud check. as for the Sherpath I just checked online at the bookstore website and it says it's in stock? Maybe you're able to return what you already bought and purchase it online, although I suggest calling bookstore and finding out if it is actually in stock. Maybe they're able to order directly from Sherpath.

I can't return it but it's ok. I spoke to a sherpath representative and it should be ok With the paperback.

thanks for the info! I couldn't make it to the orientation and they emailed me the paperwork, but I'm missing a few things. Can you please email me the code for the background check? [email protected]
