City of Hope New Grad 2018

Published

To anyone who applied to the 2018 City of Hope New Grad program:

Has anyone received an invitation for an interview? I've been trying to contact HR for weeks now to check on my status but I keep getting directed to someone's voicemail box. I have no idea what's going on with this application process. Any information would be helpful!

I received an email with pre-screening questions on 5/14 and was told I'd receive next steps by the first week of June. Haven't received anything since then, but I know there's still some time.

Have you heard anything more?

I haven't heard anything since the screening questions either!

I just got contacted about an interview in July!!

Congrats!!! I got contacted as well. I hope you do great on your interview! :)

I got into the Fall program. . The program started in April. There were a lot of applicants ( more than 600) and I think only 12 spots total. Good luck everyone. It's a great place to work and the salary is awesome.

did you get an interview for peds hem/onc?

It did. Got the call to interview in February. I applied in the Fall of last year. Hired New Grads started April 1. Took forever to get an interview

For Hi Five. Yes I'm working at COH. Was hired in February and started April 1 with the Fall New Grad program. I'm not able to send private messages because I don't have enough comments yet. Saw your P M with your question

do you mean that they gave you an offer in February, and the program started 4/1? Took that long? Was the med test hard? how did you prepare for it?

So far, do you like your work? Is it stressful? which unit are you in? How many new grads in your unit?

Yes, interviewed in February, received job offer 2 hours later. Program started April 1. It took a long time to get the interview once they said they would schedule it because the recruiter was on leave for a while. They had to push the program back because of the recruiters leave. I think the program was actually due to start in March. There was over 600 applicants with only 10 spots available for the program. I think they interviewed 80 people out of the 600 but that is not confirmed. I'm reluctant to say what unit I am working on but it is a specialized Hemo/ oncology unit. There are 4 New Grads on my unit. Yes, I thought the med test was hard since it is a timed test that I was able to take at home which helped.

I really enjoyed working at City of Hope. The people that I work with are dedicated, hard-working people. There is a lot to learn and there is a class to go to at City of Hope every Tuesday plus an additional 2, 12 hour day shifts with the preceptor.

Good luck to all

Thanks very much for the info. What about the turn over rate? Does it require lots critical thinking skills? How did you prepare for it? Is it most like "step-down" unit or "critical care" unit?
