City of Hope New Grad 2013 App

U.S.A. California

Published

Hi,

Has anyone applied to City of Hopes New Grad program for the February 2013 cohort? The application is due today, and I can't seem to find the app online. Anyone care to direct me to the right place?

It is a 3 phase process. First is a face-to-face with the nurse recruiter (or phone interview); if phase 1 is passed, then an interview with the unit manager, then a panel interview in front of 3 managers for the remaining qualified candidates. It is pretty competitive as most of you Californians know! Good luck to all who applied!

I was originally called on April 3, but didn't have a phone interview until the 10th. Sounds like they got overwhelmed with applicants by the time it hit job posting websites like indeed.

Specializes in Medical Surgical, PHN.

Jasper - They never called me for my phone interview appt :/ and I called and left multiple msg. I guess they're swamped with lots of applicants. How did your phone interview go? And any update on your end? :) Thanks!

Laurb- I got a phone call for an in person interview on April 4, and later got a phone interview an phone call interview on April 8 since they over booked the in person interview (?).

I'm still waiting. Ahhhh the anxiety. Someone ease me. lol.

Yea it sounds like it's crazy on their end :/feels like they originally jumped the gun with in person interviews. I felt like the phone interview went well, about 45 mins long and lots of questions. But now I'm just waiting, they said hopefully they will know more this week..me too lol

Hi jasper. What kind of questions did they ask you during the phone interview? Any advice would be great :)

I applied at midnight on April 1 and got a call for an interview as well.

Lizzyxpooh, I was wondering if you already have your RN license. I will probably not get mine by the first week of June (probably won't even take the NCLEX until the end of June, actually), so I think that may be why I haven't heard from them.

Nova- honestly I was so nervous, it was kind of a blur. But it started with a lot of typical questions getting to know me than went into behavioral questions regarding conflict and difficult/emotional situations. Basically the recruiter told me they phone screen to see if people know what they are really getting into with acute onc because the turn over is so high and most new grads don't have the primarily oncology setting experience.

My application switched to "on file" yesterday as well! Has anyone figured out what this means?

spoke with one of the recruiters and they said that phone calls can be expected as early as May 1st :/ And emails will be sent out if people are not chosen...

So far away! :(

Hearing this makes me feel a lot better, actually. I have been wondering and feeling badly about not having gotten any response, while it seems others are hearing back.

Glad you're keeping your spirits up, db2xs! I graduated in December with my BSN and got my RN license in February. It has been very difficult applying for jobs and getting rejections left and right. I had an interview with Scripps before I graduated and I had no idea what to expect for a panel interview; let's just say I bombed it miserably and was down on myself.. BUT.. it made me all the more wiser as to how to prepare for an interview and stuff to enhance and delete on my resume. It is so competitive here in SoCal and there are so many of us new grads. Just keep applying and keep your head up! Easier said than done, that's for sure!
