I love it so far! To be honest it is a lot to take in as a new grad bc of how much hematology oncology is. the learning curve is very steep. but its so cool to be a part of giving these pts a whole brand new system of cells. a lot of the pts are here for up to months so its also nice bc u get to be with them a lot and you get to rlly know them. and u meet them at all different stages in the process. u have some that are like newly diagnosed, others who are days away from transplant, others where theyre days/weeks post and u start to see the new cells kicking in and all the side effects that come w that. and unfortunately also pts who are on comfort care as well. but all these nurses are so unbelievably smart and know everything about hem onc and I think its a super interesting specialty. I wouldnt say it feels like a med/surg floor. our ratio is 1:3. I think the only "con" right now is that it can get hard to remember/understand the physiology and all with hematology cancers, so studying it on your own is super important to continue to understand the differences with the cancers and all the different treatments.

Awesome, I'm really interested in onc! Thank you for your insight! Do you have any resources for new nurses/students who want to work in BMT?

Has anyone heard or know when the next application will open for the new grad program?

Following. I heard it starts in September
