Hello,
I'm not sure if one was already created for this cohort, but I couldn't find one! I am starting this thread for updates for the September residency program (interviews, questions, support, and general updates).
Hoping to meet some new people!
I applied to COH today! Good luck to all
Thanks for making this thread! I applied when the application opened, but in the information session yesterday they said that the program is for RNs with less than 1 year experience. I will have one year of experience by the time the cohort starts, but not in acute care so I don't know if my app will be disqualified.

From what I remember, they talked a bit about city of hope and their mission/core values. Then they had the managers of the different units talk a little about themselves and their unit. They also talked about the new grad program. There's some one-on-one mentoring and also a project that you do with your cohort. I'm pretty sure they also said they're looking to hire 15-25 new grads, but in the job posting they said 35, so I'm not sure how many they will end up hiring. And here is the timeline for interviews/hiring:
Application Posting Period: 6/1/24 - 6/28/24
Candidates will be contacted between 7/8/24 - 7/19/24
Interviews will take place 7/25/24 - 7/29/24
Successful Candidates will be notified 8/1/24 - 8/14/24
Cohort start date: 9/9/24
Good luck to everyone!

Hi
This is what I can recall:
Submit Resume
LORs (I think optional, can't remember. I would still submit though)
Cover letter (optional)
Personal Statement (optional)
PALS Certification is not a hard requirement. It is only required for some units.
0-12 months RN experience.
Ideally, you should have your RN license before 08/01 but it is not a hard requirement. They have some flexibility on that, but I would aim to have it before then.
4E is looking for 4 nurses & 6th floor is looking for 5 nurses.
They have infusion clinics, but I can't remember how many new grads they're looking for.
I believe they said classes would be online and skills days would be in person.
Irvine location is TBD. You can submit your app with Irvine as one of your choices or top choice. If Irvine becomes unavailable but they want to move forward with your app, they will ask if you are open to other locations.

Thank you so much!! When I was applying and it was asking me for the units I wanted, I was so confused because I was like uhhh whichever floor is hiring! LOL I was hoping for Irvine location, but we shall see! I'm a bit nervous as they have over 100 applicants and are only taking 15-20, but I'm praying for the best.

Hey, I believe they also mentioned if you don't end up qualifying for the new grad program, they would forward your app to be considered for experienced RN positions?
You should email them before they close apps! Goodluck!!

NP!
LOL yea. those were the only two I was able to catch. I don't know how many nurses they want for the other floors.
Yes, it's very competitive! Although the other docs like cover letter and personal statement are optional, it can help them get to know you better, your passion for oncology/nursing, and can make your app stand out a lot more.
Good luck!! ◡̈
