There was just a vote in the Senate this morning, June 28th, and the vote to push forward with the CIR was just voted down. Getting this for the second time means that it will not be discussed for the remainder of this Congressional term. No chance for it coming back to life this year at all; or even until the end of Bush's term as it stands.
So anything that you have read in any of it about such and such being done is not going to happen.
To just clear up a few things:
I have never liked the idea of the CIR from the very beginning. For 12 million people to get amnesty and for everyone to look the other way is just not right. And the issue that all of you need to pay for your immigration fees for yourself as well as family members and they get it paid for by US taxpayers is just not right.
If they have been in the US for the past 20 years, that is one thing. But for those that came here illegally last December and to be included in this is just not right either.
There are many of you that have waited years to do the correct and legal thing. Why should someone that snuck in illegally be entitled to everything that most have to wait five years to get? Makes no sense at all. And this is why it did not pass.
I have spent years here helping foreign nurses, and I do not like to see anyone taken advantage of. You have trusted me in the past to give you honest opinions on things, and I have done just that. And I have stated all along that the CIR was not a good thing, and it was not. Also the idea of inlimited visas for nurses for ten years is also not going to get thru anything. If you were already in the US, you would see that it is not a plausible thing to do.

Thank you Suzanne for everything you are doing!! I think we all know how much time you are spending in this forum in order to help us and your effort are very very very much appreciated!!!!!
from all the forums on the internet you have been always the most trusted one, always telling the truth either good or bad.
in the past you mentioned you have trusted lawyers who advise you, you mentioned that they think that somkething for nurses should be availble by summer, I guess they thought the CIR will pass and will include the Nurses...
Well I think the CIR was a big Surprise to us all, it seems in this bill that the Democrats are against Nurse Immigration and our only supporters are the Republicans who are now defeted and in Minority,
What do you think about the future of nurse immigration to the U.S, will we have a support to be included in a seperate category than other Employment Based 3 category?
Second question regarding the upcoming retrogression that will probably will happend in the next month or so..., while the Visa Bullitin clearly states the visa numbers will be severly retrogress, I do remember a large forward movment in EB3 cutoff dates for "rest of the world" category before the July visa bulliten that made all section Current in order not to waste Visa numbers this Year, My question is, do you think that severe retrogression of numbers mean that "rest of world" category will retrogress further then the June Visa Bullitin?
I know that there are no clear answers, Just wanted to hear your oppinion...
Thanks again for everything!

Democrats are not against nurse immigration at all. We are just against what the CIR was about. And it was not about nurses at all. It was about illegal aliens getting amnesty, and not having to pay for their immigration fees like you are having to do.
I still think that there will be something for nurses this year, but definitely not unlimited visas as many of you want. If you were working in the US, you would see that is not what should be.
The July Bulletin is the one that has made things current but only for a short time, they just have 140,000 visas that are being recapped. And it is an open window since the visa fees are going up significantly the end of July. Bulletins always come out the middle of the month preceding.
I have never liked the CIR from the beginning and have never thought that nurses should be included in it. You are not illegal aliens and you are not under the guest worker program that were the main focuses of that program. You want something like the Schedule A only.

If the DOS will revise the July Bulletin to make all EB-3 Visas retrogressed, then it would somehow help nurses push the Schedule A only bridge....I am thinking positively....hopefully, something good will come out of bad things...
There is no Schedule A, so there is nothing that will be done to push that. If it does not exist, then you can't do anything about it.
Expect something different all together. There is actually nothing bad about any of this. There are always reasons for why things happen. And there are more nurses than there are visas available, this has been the case for the past few years. So all that want a green card are not going to be getting one in a timely fashion, just can't happen. We do not have an opne door policy here so that all that want to come can. The US is just not that large.
