Chronicles of a VA APRN Resident

I interviewed today and was offered one of six resident positions. I lost it. The panel laughed and said my reaction was the best one so far. ?

I was asked nine questions. They were along the lines of "Tell me about yourself; How will you contribute to VA care; Flexibility and describe a time when it was required; Career goals; Rate yourself 0 - 10 in the following aspects, etc.". I was sweating the whole time, but displayed a cool (I think) exterior.

It starts towards the end of September, so plenty of time for me to go over all my material from school and beef up my knowledge so I don't look like a total dunce.

I will periodically update this thread with all my trials and tribulations for those who are interested in applying for a spot in the future and want to know what the year will look like.

Thats insane that they would blacklist you!

Yea blacklisted is crazy. Do you mean blacklisted from the VA or just re-entering the fellowship program?

Has anyone been on a waitlist? I was told today that they will put me on a waitlist and notify me if anyone forfeit his/her spot... disheartening but another hurry up and wait game I guess

Hello! I came across this post about the VA residency and would like any updates from those currently in the program or who have completed it. I'm about to finish my last rotation in NP school in a few weeks. I also work at the VA as an RN, but unfortunately, the VA residency isn't offered at my current location, so I will need to relocate to another VA. I'm okay with relocating to continue building my years of service with the VA, as I am vested. I'm currently in South Florida and will need to move to Central or North Florida, where the person who started this post attended, Gainesville, I believe. Anyway, I wanted to hear your thoughts on how the VA residency prepared you as a new FNP graduate. Thank you.
