Merry Christmas Eve!
J22, those are some disturbing symptoms. Are they new to you or do you have a history of that kind of vertigo? Glad it got better.
Going back to work tomorrow after a five-day recovery from my surgery. My note excuses me from work tomorrow I noticed, but I'm already committed to going back and having it conveniently include Christmas Day isn't a good look as a leader I want to have. I didn't ask for that anyway. He makes no notice of work restrictions, He did tell me to take it easy and not lift more than 30 lbs but didn't put it in writing, so I'm not going to say anything but I will be a good patient and take it easy.
Today I will be doing some meal prep for the days to come. I ordered some chicken wings to bring to the work potluck tomorrow. They wanted 24 hour notice for a platter and they really better have it ready. This is the place that has messed up my online orders for subs before. I may or may not get my traditional Chinese food on the way home tomorrow.
I got some glass storage containers of various sizes for Christmas and hope to get away from plastic containers.
We're having seasonal weather in the low 70's. Should get up to 72 but the news is abuzz with an "Arctic blast" we're supposed to get New Years which will plunge us into the 30's. This is never good for our Winter crops inland where it's colder.
High temp is supposed to be 71 degrees, but it is currently 73 degrees and may go up to 78 degrees. Also says it is supposed to rain today and tomorrow, but there is not one little cloud in the sky at this time. Poor Mother Nature, she doesn't know WHAT to do!
Already Nannie is complaining. She had put on her navy blue pants, socks and her blue shoes, but wasn't happy because none of it 'went with' her deep maroon jersey that I put on her. It also confuses her that I put on only ONE jersey (with long sleeves) instead of a turtleneck jersey with the other jersey over it. Too warm for two jerseys. She keeps rolling the hem of her jersey up and says that the white underside of the jersey is a 2nd jersey. Her 'proof' is that the underside of the jersey does not have the jerseys's pattern on it. Can't argue with a dementia patient, though!
Nannie's washed clothes are drying, and I have to put my own wash in now. Then sooner or later it will be the omnipresent dirty dishes in the sink to take care of.
BiL texted me that he had put a bag on the front porch with food in it. So, for supper we will have grilled chicken breasts and some kind of spicy meatballs, and a cup of mixed vegetables. At least I don't have to cook tonight!
The eye doc yesterday said I probably need to get some "readers", but I will wait until after my second cataract removal. I have decided that since I have worn glasses for something like 55 years, that I DON'T like the way my face looks without glasses: big dark circles and puffy skin under my eyes, lots of wrinkles on my upper lip and cheeks, etc. So, I am going to ask the eye doc if I can get a pair of frames I like, and have clear glass for the distance vision, and readers at the bottom of the lens, like bifocals, only not. IMHO the frames kind of draw attention away from the rest of my face. Maybe they really don't, but it seems so to me. Even if I had the money I would not have 'work' done on my face; I see so many who have HAD work done and wish that they didn't...... especially because after several more years after that, the 'fixed' parts of the face don't seem to go with the rest of the face, that continues to be affected by gravity and age. Besides, my facial skin is quite 'thin', and I can only imagine ending up looking like Joan Rivers with her multiple MULTIPLE 'fixes' that make her skin look so pulled back it is like she is heading into high winds of about 150 mph.
Oh what fun it is to age! Before I examined my face minus glasses, I just didn't look so ancient. But, oh well, so what, who cares. I'm still me inside. "My face I don't mind it, I live here behind it, quite tightly it's wedged 'tween my ears...." (John Hartford) And I like the last lines: "In back of this face I could watch or be singing, or sometimes I might be asleep!" Anyway, his song kind of either cheers me up a little or helps me be a little blind to my (offensive) aging. But it looks okay when I smile. And, it is what it is, so.....ppfftt!
Yes, tomorrow is Jesus' birthday. I had a friend whose b'day was on Christmas Day and she said she was jealous because my birthday is in July; she said *I* got presents TWICE a year instead of only once.
Lightly raining, with 60 mph winds forecast. 😳. I ventured out briefly, to get stuff for dh's stocking, sugar, and Pam. The roads are very busy, but people in stores seem cheerful.
I've peeled some apples and they are macerating in brown sugar. It's a recipe dd and grandson used at thanksgiving.
Grandson is here to help with pies. I am going to show him my method of mixing and rolling pie crust. His brother and mum will come later for dinner and spend the night.
If I was rich I'd get an eyelid lift. I have hooded eyes and they've become droopy.
dh and youngest ds have December birthdays. I used to have unbirthday parties for them in June.
I've had brief bouts of vertigo, but Monday was awful. None since. Otoliths maybe.
Hello all!
nursej22, I hope it's "only" otoliths, and that the effects fade away. What is the recipe of the apples sitting in brown sugar?
No Stars, I expect us west-coasters to endure temps of 78 degrees at this time of the year, not y'all! It is 59 degrees and has been raining, on and off, all day. Significant flooding reports have been sent out, from several counties. Our area seems to be safe from any flooding. I feel for the folks in endangered areas -- especially just before Christmas!
We were planning on taking oldest ds out for lunch tomorrow, but he texted he has a cold and will likely stay home. I did a run to the store, and along with things on my list, picked up some Day-Quil and Ny-Quil for him, plus some Vitamin C, Elderberry gummies, orange juice, and some mandarin oranges. I delivered them, along with his gifts, and he looked pretty good when he came out -- he wasn't miserable, at least. I hope the meds help.
I am making a sun-dried tomato/spinach pasta, better go check it (I got in the mood for it, so made it. Spoiled, I am!)
Have a good evening, and Merry Christmas Eve!

Tweety hope the pain eases up
Hi Dianah
NJ22 glad the dizziness passed
Stars glad the eye appointment went well
Ado that's awfully warm for December
Yesterday overall was good at work, despite getting a new case and having to do the side project. Was a bit of a rush in the afternoon but then slowed down again. After work was busy too, did the grocery shopping and stopped at the candy store and did some cleaning. Store weren't quite as crowded as Thanksgiving but still usually busy
Today starting work early so I can leave early and get to my cousin's for Christmas Eve dinner. Though I will still be getting there over an hour late, but can't be helped . Will likely open presents there with my sister and family, although my sister has discussed going to my dad's after my cousin's to open gifts there. Which could work, though I also have church later this evening too, so we would have to keep it fairly short Will be the usher and reader. Expect to get to bed around midnight
Will be the same as yesterday here, mid 40s with maybe a touch of rain
