CHOP Nurse Externship Summer 2019

Is anyone else interviewing at CHOP today (2/1) or Tuesday (2/5)? Also if anyone who did it last year could offer tips or suggestions it would be much appreciated!

HI I just got offered an interview for the CHOP externship for this summer, and was wondering what your interview experience was like last year?

Hi, when did you hear back from CHOP? I applied in November and still have not heard back from them. According to their site today is the latest day they can notify people. Do you have to do the interview in person?

Following this thread in case @clemsonnurse responds! Getting nervous. The lady told me it’s a two hour interview so that I could plan flights. I land at 1 am, interview at 11 am, then land back at home at midnight for class at 8 am. I’m going to be exhausted!

@adib0917 I found out last Monday evening. It’s an in person interview.

@lmn1428 I'm from Philadelphia but I go to school out of state so I'm flying in as well! Im interviewing on 2/6

Where do you go? I interview that day as well! I chose 11 AM. I looked at the sign-up page and they're interviewing 98. Do you know how many applied and how many they choose?

I am excited! I have never even been to Pennsylvania before but want to move up north when I graduate!

Hey guys! What questions about the interview and externship do you have? I ended up getting accepted to the externship and loved every second of my summer! You have to have an interview in person, I just flew up to philly the day of and then flew back the same day. I interviewed on February 5th and got called that I got the externship on February 21st, but I think the date of notification is different every year.

For the interview itself, everyone interviewing at the same time was put in a conference room and one of the nurse recruiters game some information about the externship and then we were each paired off with a nurse. The nurses we were paired with were from all different units. The person that you interview with has no bearing on the two units you will be assigned (5 weeks in a med surg, 5 weeks in an ICU, ED, or PACU) to as you don't get to put a preference. The nurse you are assigned to takes you on a short tour of their unit and then you sit down with them and are asked different behavioral type interview questions. You're also asked "why chop?" so make sure you have a good answer.

@clemsonnurse are you from philly? I really want the externship but want to make sure I can afford to sublet somewhere with the pay! Also, how many do they accept? I saw they’re interviewing 93 people

I got an email last Monday evening with a link to register for an interview time.
