Thank you! I know one girl that interviewed on the nicu but as of this afternoon she hasn’t heard anything

I just got an offer for the PICU/peds hem onc/gen peds unit about 2 hours ago and I accepted it!

I ended up using a Facebook page called university of Pennsylvania housing, sublets, and roommates. I found a great room and great roommates in a 15 minute walk from chop. Just beware of scammers. But overall I know a bunch of other externs that use that same housing page too and it worked out great.

I also just called to ask and I am interviewing in the PICU!! What about you? @kb405

I have not heard back about the unit either!

No I’m not from philly nor do I go to school up there. They accept around 50.

For the interview itself, everyone interviewing at the same time was put in a conference room and one of the nurse recruiters game some information about the externship and then we were each paired off with a nurse. The nurses we were paired with were from all different units. The person that you interview with has no bearing on the two units you will be assigned (5 weeks in a med surg, 5 weeks in an ICU, ED, or PACU) to as you don't get to put a preference. The nurse you are assigned to takes you on a short tour of their unit and then you sit down with them and are asked different behavioral type interview questions. You're also asked "why chop?" so make sure you have a good answer.

Hey guys! What questions about the interview and externship do you have? I ended up getting accepted to the externship and loved every second of my summer! You have to have an interview in person, I just flew up to philly the day of and then flew back the same day. I interviewed on February 5th and got called that I got the externship on February 21st, but I think the date of notification is different every year.

I actually just got an email for the interview day!

I still haven't heard anything either. Has anyone else heard anything about the interview day?

@slong15 Thank you! I have not done the in person interview yet but the PICU nurse manager is supposed to email me in the next week to set up a time. It was a talent acquisition person who notified me.

Is anyone else interviewing at CHOP today (2/1) or Tuesday (2/5)? Also if anyone who did it last year could offer tips or suggestions it would be much appreciated!
