    CHOP Nurse Externship Summer 2019

I ended up using a Facebook page called university of Pennsylvania housing, sublets, and roommates. I found a great room and great roommates in a 15 minute walk from chop. Just beware of scammers. But overall I know a bunch of other externs that use that same housing page too and it worked out great.

    CHOP Nurse Externship Summer 2019

For the interview itself, everyone interviewing at the same time was put in a conference room and one of the nurse recruiters game some information about the externship and then we were each paired off with a nurse. The nurses we were paired with were from all different units. The person that you interview with has no bearing on the two units you will be assigned (5 weeks in a med surg, 5 weeks in an ICU, ED, or PACU) to as you don't get to put a preference. The nurse you are assigned to takes you on a short tour of their unit and then you sit down with them and are asked different behavioral type interview questions. You're also asked "why chop?" so make sure you have a good answer.

    CHOP Nurse Externship Summer 2019

Hey guys! What questions about the interview and externship do you have? I ended up getting accepted to the externship and loved every second of my summer! You have to have an interview in person, I just flew up to philly the day of and then flew back the same day. I interviewed on February 5th and got called that I got the externship on February 21st, but I think the date of notification is different every year.

@slong15 Thank you! I have not done the in person interview yet but the PICU nurse manager is supposed to email me in the next week to set up a time. It was a talent acquisition person who notified me.

    CHOP Externship 2019

I am a current junior in a BSN program and am applying for externships. I really want to do one at CHOP but I heard that you 1. need to have a connection with a CHOP employee 2. Be from PA or 3. go to school in PA. Is this true? If you did the CHOP externship and didn't have any of these 3 connections please comment on this post. Thanks!

Mayo Nursing Externship Summer III 2019

Hey guys! I also have applied for the summer III program for 2019. I have heard from other students that they greatly prefer people that have worked as nursing assistants/CNA's. Is this what you guys have heard too?
