Choosing Acute Care NP or Acute Care CNS

I was wondering for those ACNP and ACCNS, what made you decide to choose that career?

Anyone in med surg, telemetry, or icu before they advanced their career?

Did previous experience in units like med surg, telemetry or icu contribute to you choosing ACNP or ACCNS?

I'm actually a FNP, but my RN experience was hospital based acute care. I did not choose to become an ACNP because I felt it was a little too intense for me. Unfortunately I heard a lot of negative things about being an ACNP, so I don't want to discourage you from choosing that based on hearsay. Hopefully there are some ACNPs on this site who can give you some positive reasons to choose that path.
