Nurses Career Support

Hi everyone! I thought I would start a thread for CHOC Children's RN Residency that is starting in August 2020. I'm super excited to be applying to the NICU!
Fingers crossed for some good news in the coming months!

You applied for the fellowship not the new grad residency right?

Maybe their timeline was just reassurance so we dont bombard HR with calls, and they already knew who was most qualified ? which honestly I know getting a job here in socal is if you know someone that can help a ton, but for being my first app out there im kind of sad now.

Yes, but I applied to the fellowship- I have adult CVICU exp and NICU exp.

Yes the fellowship, but I believe the overall number of program slots are the same- we still take the classes with the new grads since it's a new specialty but our orientation is a lot shorter due to exp. I interviewed on the last day they were interviewing last week. Different departments may have different timelines but I was also a late applicant, I applied 2 weeks ago.

Don't give up- I didn't get into a hospital job (happened to be an ICU training program) till 5 years ago, and I graduated 9 years ago. I had to move for 2 yrs 5 hrs away from my husband but we made it work and now it's easier to get a job once you get that initial exp. You might just have to apply to less desirable locations. The exp I got from being in a rural area was amazing and the patients were a lot more critical.

CONGRATS fellows! For the folks who applied to the residency program, has anyone heard back from any unit?
