Hello Nursing World,
I am a chiropractor who will be entering the nursing program, at Wayland Baptist University, in 2 weeks. I do have some concerns about this program, which in the hopes that someone out there will give me some feedback.
Lets start with the positive aspects:
1) I dont mind the clinical travelling
2) I dont mind the cost of tuition ($45T)
3) Get away from the California craziness, in the aspect of the nursing schools.
Now for the concerns:
1) What is the success rate of this program? I dont want to give all my money and in the end I will get screwed. Their refund policily is not as accomodating.
2) I understand that this school holds Christian type values. Will they help you or be accomodating when it comes to assistance in classes that students may have trouble in or are you just a number (or money) to them?
3) I would like to hear from students who have been through this program - any other thoughts you may have. Please be honest. Should I go to this school or not.
Thanks
DGF
I hear ya. What resources did you use to study for clep? I took the history part 1 clep and passed but 2 points below what they WBU requires from the clep to use for credit. THey wouldn't budge on it. I used the REA book and barrons and a college text book and videos. I was stumped on some of the questions that were very detailed and not covered in any of the resources I used. Any CLEP insight would be helpful.
Are you going to Samford for NP?
I had 27 credits of prereqs left to do when I started (don't get me started on that crap) but I clepped out of a lot of them and squeezed them in along the way.
So they accepted you into the program even though your prereqs weren't completed? Were there certain prereqs that must be completed before entering the program? Like the sciences?
All my sciences were done. They said i needed another history class, another english, poly science, and religion.... I used i think speedyprep.com for test prep.
I am deciding between UAB or SLU for the FNP. Samford was screwy when we were talking with them so we don't trust them. Plus they are changing the program and making it longer.

any updates on the program? Has anyone been in their generic program and/or their lvn to bsn or rn to bsn?
