Children's UPMC HR

So, I am supposed to job shadow for 2 days in October at UPMC Children's. The recruiter said they'd send me an email with a packet of info I'd have to fill out and that they'd speak to the nurse managers for the floors they wanted to have me shadow on and then I'd be all set. Well, it's been 2 weeks and she hasn't emailed it to me or gotten in touch with me except for when I called her last week and got no new info.

Is their HR slow at all? Should I call again in a week to check on status? I don't want to keep bugging them but I really want to job shadow there and work there after I graduate. Thanks.

Yes, their HR can be slow, but just keep calling/e-mailing. If you know which units you are interested in shawdowing on, it might not hurt to contact those unit directors as well, to see if they could get the ball rolling. When I shadowed, it was initiated by a manager, she gave me the papers to fill out, and I just had to fax them to HR. Made it go alot faster. The papers are basically HIPPA stuff and proof of a recent TB test.

Yes, just keep bugging them! UPMC is so huge, it's easy to get lost in the shuffle.

I called again today. They said they should have things arranged in the next 2 days. I'll call again next Friday if I haven't heard anything further.
