Children's Medical Center Dallas - July 2013 Internships

Positions were posted yesterday. I applied for NICU, PICU, and CICU. I've applied to other jobs in the metroplex but working at Children's CICU is my dream job! I'm starting this thread so we can update each other on the application/interview process and (hopefully) future job offers.

I think it went well! I had a panel interview. Typical behavioral questions and why I wanted to work there. Then I was given a tour of the unit. 75% of patients are neonates/babies, 25% are toddlers and up including members of the adult population in their middle ages. The kids are super sick - ECMO, CVVH, sometimes they even have to open them up in the rooms so they have all the rooms set up with OR equipment if need be. Awesome unit with lots of opportunities for growth. I should hear back Friday :)

No, the earliest was goingto be today. Me, nor two others that I know interviewed heard anything. Boo! It'll be next week.

Update: Recruiter contacted me today saying the staff is requesting approval to extend an offer. I should here back by the end of the week.

I was offered the position!!! I asked her for a day to think about it because I have another offer on the table but I have till tomorrow to make a decision. Feeling super blessed and humbled..

Does anybody know if they gave started conducting interviews for the NICU?

That's great! A hard decision. It would be difficult for me too. Parkland would offer you lots of experience and you could write your ticket anywhere, but children's would also give you tons of experience. Good luck on your decision.

Thank you all! Yes it was a very hard decision. I made a pro/con list for both lol. I'm a big believer in fate (and faith) and just the way things lined up pointed me to Children's! Excited to start! Now I need to buckle up and study for NCLEX lol.

@dagsmom - will I be working with you? :)

To those that are still waiting, be patient and persistent..I had 6-7 rejections before offers started coming. Plus, you always end up where you're meant to be :) Good luck!!!

@ meraki86 Wow, congrats! May I ask what nursing program you are finishing? I am just starting my prereqs towards my BSN studies and my career dream is similar yours. Childrens would be amazing! Cheers!
