Hi all,
I am going to be shadowing for a possible job at Children's Hospital as a staff RN. I do only have my ADN, so I am not sure that I will even get the job. I have 15 months of nursing experience...
I was wondering if anyone knows how they are doing financially, I am getting nervous hearing that all these Boston Hospitals are having hiring freezes etc. I just want to know if anyone knows if jobs there are safe right now??

I know someone who got hired at Childrens recently with one year of experience. This nurse does have a BSN so I'm not sure how they are with BSN vs. ADN there. A lot of Boston hospitals were on a hiring freeze but it seems like it's letting up a little bit, for nurses with experience at least. I haven't heard of any of the big hospitals here laying off nurses if that's what you mean by jobs being safe?
I am soooo aggravated.
I went through the interview, shadowed.... the HR person called me today to say the manager was going to hire me, but that she had to cancel the opening. Whatever that means. I am not sure if that is part of the hiring freeze there that I have been hearing about. It is quite frustrating, atlhough I guess I should be happy in this economy that I have a job, no matter how much I dislike it.

I recently put in a resume there through a friend. HR called and said they would be calling in a few days for a phone interview and a couple days later they called back and said the positions were filled for that floor but to put my resume in for another opening if I was still interested.
frustrating, isn't it?
