Hi everyone!I recently completed 20 contact hour for children CEU's but I am a Medical Surgical nurse. And I was wondering if this is considered sufficient since I am not a pediatric nurse. Please let me know if this is okay. Thank you.
I would think so. We do get emergency pediatric patients in med surg from time to time ...or maybe you'll want to switch specialties at some point.
Sufficient for what? What are they for? Your licensing board? An NP program? Maintaining a certification? The governing body that requires the CEUs will determine if they are sufficient.
For instance, my state's licensing board requires ~40 CEUs per renewal cycle, but they can be from any specialty (whether you work in that specialty or not). In contrast, the board that provides my specialty certification requires that a certain portion of my CEUs (~60 per renewal cycle) come specifically from my specialty.
