So, I am stuck taking a class that I really don't need because I am done with my pre-req's, but I did not get in for the Fall semester (praying for spring). And in order to sign up a week early (if I do get in for Spring), I have to be in a class this semester.
So, I am taking a Psychology course this semester...Child Growth & Development. Starts August 20.
Has anyone taken this or is anyone else taking this class this semester? I am taking it online, so I am hoping I will do well. I've done great on some online courses and just ok in others...anyone take this one online...if so, how was it? Any suggestions?
Thanks!

I took that class- it was a requirement for my ns. It was alright. It's starts at newborns and goes through death and dying people. It talks about how and why people typically act the way they do. It would be an easy class to take.

you may feel like you are wasting your time taking this class but you are going to need it when you get to peds..... erickson, piaget, ect all are part of the peds program. pay attention as the growth and development is very important in diagnosing development delays in children. KEEP YOUR NOTES FOR FUTURE REFERENCE!!!!!!!
Well, and that was one of the reasons I figured this would be a good class to take because I'd either like to go into OB or Pediatrics when I get my degree. I'm actually excited to take this class...should be interesting as I have a daughter as well who will be two.
If (and I hope this is not the case) I don't get in for the Spring 2008 semester for Nursing, I think I am going to go for the CNA classes...these are not required in my program, but I think it would be a good one to take to prepare me for the Nursing program...but I am hoping I don't have to take it!

Do you mean Developmental [sych growth and development? If I so it was one of my required pre reqs also. Its an easy class.
It is a psychology class and it is called Child Growth & Development. I would think it would be very similar to any growth & development class. Maybe???

Every nursing program I've seen requires Human Growth and Development. Most also state that Child Growth and Development will not count for this requirement, that the class must cover the entire life span.
I bet you've checked the co-reqs for your program, though. It should be an easy and interesting class.

Yes...I am going for my ADN and this is not a required class at my school...I have completed all my pre/co req's. Just have my Nursing left at this point!
Regardless...I think this class should be interesting.
Yes, interesting and applicable to the peds specialty you are thinking of.

Child Growth & Development is not a required class for us, but it is reccomended, just as Med Terminology is reccommended. I am taking both as they will definitely apply to a Nursing career. Be sure to work hard in the class and keep up your GPA too. Good luck!
