Chico State Spring 2018

Hey everyone! I'm about to submit my nursing ap with 92 points. Anyone else? It'd be cool to get a general idea of the points other people are applying with!

Hello, I applied with 93 points, I'm still anxious about hearing back in case I did something wrong on the application. anyway, look forward to finding out, I wish there was something I could do to prepare while waiting. I'm wondering if anybody knows all what is needed before school starts; TB test, police background check, drug test, buying supplies...I didn't know about the insurance thing before reading this forum, anything else? I'm just wondering cause i'm from southern california and I want to know how soon I should get up there for all that but I suppose we will find out soon enough. good luck everyone!

I called to get a list of the vaccinations we would need. Catie, who works in the nursing office, emailed me the list when I asked after some of them. I'm sure they will send us the list of requirements when we get acceptance. :)

Don't worry most likely your application is fine if they didn't contact you. My application had couple problems and they contacted me. If they don't contact you, most likely you're fine. For the requirements look around their website. I saw that they require 2 TB test ideally taken 3 months apart, health check, insurance thing? (I will call and ask when I know for sure if I'm admitted or not- really scared that would mean rejection for me)

I definitely understand why transportation is important to them. Hopefully, they'll let me get away with not having vehicle for just 1 semester. For sure I'll able to have vehicle in second semester. I think I'll ask them when I actually get the acceptance email who knows maybe I won't even get accepted. Just kind of scared of even asking.

I just wonder when will the deadline be for these requirements after you get your acceptance letter from the program. If it's on the beginning of the semester, we probably only have a little more than a month to do all these. Thanks for the info I didn't really know much of these. And as for the car insurance I don't think they would actually require you to have one if you don't own a vehicle. I would guess they'd be pretty lenient on having you carpool with other students or using a public transportation instead.

When I asked about the vaccinations she said they give us ample time to complete all of the requirements. I didn the ask about a specific deadline, because she said they would let us know upon admittance and there would be enough time. When I did my EMT. Cert they gave us a deadline for most of the vaccines, but the hepB they had people who wanted to avoid it or couldn't receive it (allergy) sign a waiver and wear a mask. Everyone else just had to have the vaccination series (3 shots) at least started by the end of the first month or have a titer showing immunity.

I was looking at the Chico nursing website and I found a few answers to questions I had in the student guidelines https://www.csuchico.edu/nurs/documents/Student%20Guidelines%20BSN%202017-18%20updated%208.16.17.pdf

It was in the second column of the table on the Nursing Program website.

This is actually really helpful!

I am getting so nervous/anxious. I can't wait to find out

Hello! Have any of you guys started looking into housing options? I will be moving from the Sacramento area if I get in. Not sure if this is the right place for this post but it is going to be such a time crunch trying to find a place off campus and I think it would be helpful to room with another nursing student. If anyone has any suggestions on places or is also in need of a roommate, shoot me an email @ [email protected]

Thank you for posting this link about the student guidelines, it is super helpful!

Hello! Have any of you guys started looking into housing options?

I just moved from LA to chico a couple of days ago. I know I jumped the gun but I didn't want to be stressed last minute especially cause of all the preparation needed to be done as well as holiday stuff. I know it was a risk cause I don't know if I will get accepted yet but I really want to go here and I figure I'll just take some other classes/ work in the meantime cause I like chico anyway and I needed to find housing anyway. Good luck finding something, school ends Dec. 15th I think and there will be a ton of students trying to get rid of their places. Moving in with other nursing students is a great idea, good luck!
