So my husband and I recently decided to move to Chicago to pursue grad school. My background is mostly in Cardiac ICU.Any advice on the hospitals in the area? I wanted to apply to Loyola but after reading about the hospital it has me reconsidering. Any insight to the major hospitals in the area would be appreciated.

Hello there! Chicago RN here. Major hospitals to look into, in no particular order:
Some of it depends on where you'll be living, commute time preference, your educational background (ADN or BSN), and what you're looking for-- another CV ICU, Trauma Level, etc. Obviously there are TONS of hospitals to choose from in Chicago, but those are the big ones. Loyola is an excellent hospital with excellent nurses-- I've worked with a few of them. Feel free to shoot me a message, if you wanted to chat more!

Serious question - what's wrong with Loyola?
Absolutely nothing! I've never worked there, but I have had clinical rotations there, and they were excellent experiences. It's a great hospital!

Loyola is a great hospital! you would have to commute tho if you live in the city of Chicago. I did my clinicals there and for the most part it was a good experience. However, from what I have heard, they do not have great pay. Northwestern has the best reputation, they are number one in the state and 10th best hospital in the world. Also not the greatest pay, however my friends that work there told me they are giving a 3 dollar raise to every nurse since nurses keep leaving due to low pay. If that's the case, then pay won't be a problem:) I want to work there SO badly, also looking for ICU positions. Rush is also great, masonic... U of C has been having issues and the nurses are about to go on strike, also not in the best neighborhood. Just some thoughts.
