Chicago Nurse Residency Spring 2022

Nurses Job Hunt

Published

Hi guys,

I wanted to create a thread to talk about residencies and bounce ideas off each other leading up to application/interview season.

I am a senior BSN student from Emory looking to relocate to Chicago post-grad. Would love to hear you guys' recommendations and suggestions as I begin to look for jobs!

Im in a similar position!! I am graduating in December in NJ and looking to relocate to chicago shortly after. I have no idea when a good time to apply is as I don’t want to apply to early or too late. I would love to hear from some other new grads who have applied and got hired and the timeline for that as well as any tips

Hey! I am starting an ABSN program in the fall and plan on relocating to Chicago the following year. I am curious to see what you all ended up doing and what the job market looks like up there. Is it competitive? What do nurse residencies look like right now?

@jo1919 I ended up applying to different positions in late October, interviewed in November and was hired that day at Northwestern for a March start date! So far I love it here. Their residency program is really good. I was hired to a floor, so you don’t float around to different units. They have a lot of classes to help you refresh or learn some new skills and I have weekly meetings with my manager and my education coordinator to check in how I’m doing. Any other questions, let me know!

@Kmattessich That's awesome! How was the interview process at Northwestern for you? I have a phone interview with HR next week and im so nervous!
