Hey all!!
I have a quick question for all you smart people! When I applied to school I was accepted for next fall. (Fall 2010) I have two little boys (7 & 4) so I was taking the co-requisites slowly thinking I had plenty of time to get them done! Well, what I wasn't expecting was to be moved up!! I'm now first alternate to start this fall!!! I'm really really excited to start and I have most of my classes done but I had planned to take one science class per semester and still have chemistry and a&p 2 left to do. So I was thinking I would take chem this fall and my college offers a really great a&p2 class just for nursing students in the spring. Do you think I'm taking on too much still having science classes and kiddos? The chem will just be a survey class so I'm thinking pretty basic but I guess I'm not sure what I'm getting myself into!!! Thanks in advance!

You will be perfectly fine. A lot of students take two science classes with labs each semester. Just remember that it will be a lot of hard work & as long as you keep up on your reading it will be fine. Congratulations on all you have already accomplished & good luck with your future as a nurse!
Thank you SO much for the encouragement! I had thought I would be ok until I started doing some reading on here and I started second guessing myself!!! lol Anyway, thanks again!!!:redbeathe
Always remember that a lot more people come on here to vent than to share their happy news. So keep your head up and don't get discouraged--you came this far..you are not going to be stopped now! Good luck!

Fall is my first semester as a nursing student. I have to take chemistry in the fall with two nursing classes and Micro in the spring with four nursing classes. I am excited and scared as well. I know I will get through as long as I am focus and you can do it too. CONGRATS!!

O2BNRN,
Just remember to map out enough time for Chem and the Nursing classes. Nursing will take up the majority of your study time, but as long as you stay disiplined, you should be fine.
Iwantobeanurse,
I can not believe that you are going to take Micro with your nursing classes in the Spring! I just finished Micro and thought that I was going to die. It is a very intense class with a lot of studying and reading. Best of luck to you though.
Christine2009: Thank you! I am already trying to figure out ways to be as organized as possible! Luckily I wont have to work but I do have my kiddos :heartbeat! I think if you want something bad enough and work your hardest at it, you can achieve it.
Iwanttobeanurse: Congrats to you as well!!! :yeah:I have A&P2 to do in the spring along with my nursing classes, so again we will be in the same boat. I am preparing myself mentally but I know we wont totally understand what we've gotten ourselves into until it actually starts. And every class is different. My micro wasn't "easy" but it was a lot of fun and I learned A LOT because I had a great teacher. I would honestly much rather be taking micro this fall than chemistry...lol Best wishes to you! I KNOW we can do this.

Thanks! I know it will be hard, but I can either pass or fail and for me failing is not an option.

Thanks! I know it will be way more than what we are expecting but I am determined to get through nursing school no matter how intense. My main thing is those one or two hour breaks between classes, I will use to start to review, study and begin outlining aassignments. I have even met a senior who has given me her number and said to call with any questions. Best of luck!
That's my plan as well! On the mornings I have Chemistry I'll get out at 9:50 and my first nursing class doesn't start until 12 so I plan on using those couple of hours to review, read, and study!!!
I'm sure with so many similar classes we will be bumping into each other a lot on here. Good luck!!!!

i didn't know you could take science classes with a nursing program. at my school you have to finish all of those classes before you can start. thats how they decide who gets in and so on. good luck!!!
My college goes by GPA, ACT scores, Compass scores, and a Nursing Math test you have to pass before you can start. If you want to you can take ALL the co-reqs with your nursing classes but they REALLY discourage it. :wink2:
