Which is harder? Which has more math!

thanks!

Chemistry. I am currently in Microbiology (retaking it) , but from experience there are like 1 to 2 chapters to where I see math (it literally has to do with the pH fungi may prefer or something relating to generations) and to be honest it is not hard whatsoever. However , since study hall in my cc is connected to both the students whom usually are in Chemistry complain about the math and balancing equations.

So Chemistry is gonna be the one that kills be then?

Chemistry has a ton of math, but isn’t too difficult as long as you know the formulas for the equations. It’s very repetitive with all the calculations, though. Micro wasn’t very hard.

What did you take them through? Math is the reason I’ve been scared to go to nursing school my whole life:/

I took Chemistry at my local community college. I was really intimidated at first, but as I learned the formulas it became easier. I took micro through Pratt Community College.

I’m taking mine online through Portage. Fingers crossed. Haven’t even started them yet and I’m already freaking out:/

Just take it one day at a time. It’s normal to feel overwhelmed at first but then it gets much better.

Specializes in Pre-nursing.

I will preface this by saying that I am not a math person. Chemistry has more math. Basic bio and micro both have some simple math.

For Chemistry, they will likely teach you dimensional analysis to solve the problems. This is a very logical way to learn it in my opinion. You will learn conversions (converting between units), which seems intimidating but honestly is not complex!

For biology and micro, you will do some conversions, but mainly any math will have to do with magnification of the microscope and estimating cell size. All of those have simple formulas and my school lets us use calculators for that.

You will do great!!

Thank you!! That makes me feel so much better!! I hope I’m freaking myself out over nothing. I should probably just relax and start the damn class.

I am about to register for Portage chem 103, and to say I'm panicking would be an understatement. Did you end up completing the course?  Anything you can tell me about it?
