Chemistry and I are not friends.....

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hi everyone! My name is Tasha and I am a pre-nursing student at San Joaquin Delta College. I am currently taking chemistry as it is a pre-req to get into some of my science classes and I have to say that even though I am slowly understanding it, I by no means love it. I have been searching for websites that will give me extra practice with the Dimensional analysis part since that is what we are currently working on. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know. I really want to get at a least a B in this class. I have been getting all A's in my classes, except for one B which was in Nurtrition. Any ideas to help me master Chemistry would be appreciated. Have a great Fall Semester and good luck!

I failed high school chemistry. Since I knew it was a required prereq for nursing I did it as my first class so if I failed it I wouldn't waste my time taking other classes. I took Chemistry as a summer online class and it was extremely time consuming, requiring about 30 hours a week for studying and labs.

Before the class started I borrowed "Chemistry for Dummies" and "Algebra for Dummies" from the library and read them. I also bought the "Chemistry for Dummies" workbook so I could do extra problems on the concepts I struggled with.

Use RateMyProfessor to find a good teacher. Do every assignment and any extra credit projects. If you are confused or get behind, immediately meet with the teacher to get back on track. It wasn't easy but I got an A and feel like I have a decent understanding of the concepts I'll need for nursing school.
