Cheap online General Ed. courses?

Published

Hey everyone! Wondering if any of you knew of any cheap alternative online courses for Human Growth & Development, Sociology, and Humanities?

I am getting burnt out on all the testing.. I found that BYU has some available for $300-400 and if I could get a little cheaper, that would be wonderful!

Where I live in Michigan the CC stinks and has minimal online options and everything is filled! And they have jacked their tuition rates up to $125/ per credit hour!!

So if you know of anything, let me know!

Do you mean you want online courses instead of CLEPs?

Yeah, that is what I mean.....maybe! I am trying to seek out any other options than the testing. I'm not sure though!

I hear the Sociology/Human Growth & Development are pretty easy, and maybe they'll be easier to study for than these nursing tests!

CLEPs, I've heard were cheaper and less time consuming than an online class. Not sure if I understand what your asking.... How's studying for NC6 going?

I'm still on NC 5.. I've postponed it a million times.

I am looking for an actual online class.. These tests are starting to stress me out! The "all or nothing" feeling is getting to me.

If you fail a CLEP, it's 6 months before you can retake, so I'm wondering if I should just try and take a class. Especially for Humanities because I don't like a lick of that stuff.

Oh, I see. I think the all or nothing fact of this gets to us at some point especially when we hit a bump in the road. I think Edukan has an online Humanities class...try them.

I'm studying NC6, and for the first time, I feel so overwhelmed with information. I can't seem to get all this information straight...I have it scheduled at the end of the month.

I thought the Sociology and HG&D CLEPs were really, really easy.

I took all of my pre reqs at a community college, and most of them had an online or hybrid online/occasional classroom version. I am pretty sure that many more colleges have online options now, so I would check your local brick/motar schools first. I would not clep too many classes. First, actually taking the class can get you back in the swing of things, and two if you decide to continue with your education some 4 year schools can be iffy about the clep thing, particularly sciences.

I miss being in a classroom with other students. :-/ That's definitely the downside of distance learning programs!

A lot of California has online options. You can even do math online. I'm not sure how much out of state would cost but in state is $20

I thought the Sociology and HG&D CLEPs were really, really easy.

CLEP info is here: http://www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/clep/about.html

But check with EC and see which ones they accept. I've heard the Humanities CLEP is very broad and not easy. Luckily for me I have a ton of credits from my first trip through college in 1990-1992 that covered a lot of my gen. ed. stuff. In any case, you sign up for your CLEP through a local test site (mine was a local university) and request that the transcript be sent to EC.

Info Lit was easy. It took me a day or two to complete.
