Hello,
I am looking at going for my MSN and I don't really have a computer. Can I get away with a $200 one? It would be just for online research and writing papers. I am not tech savvy at all. I previously had macs but my kids broke my last one and it's not in the budget.
Thanks for any advice.
saw this...

and there is a chromebook for $250 too

Yes you can, plenty of used deals out there, see if you can find a tech savvy person to help you find something. Check with the program you are attending as many universities give you free access to MS office 365 and Office 16 via download.
I would avoid the chromebook as it needs internet connection to do just about anything. you can get a good new entry level computer for around $300

Check online and go into the stores located around you like Walmart, target, etc and they will often have new but discontinued laptops that are marked down...this is how I bought my sons for about $220.

Definitely. I bought two $200 computers and they are getting me well enough through school with no problems at all. They are HP computers.

Agree, I have found that you can get better specs for the money with HP laptops. I used a bottom-of-the-line HP through my RN and BSN programs. They are fine for word processing, research, etc. Granted, they won't be speed demons but they'll get you there.
